Playoff Rankings!!!

Updating rankings...
1.) Boerne
2.) Midland ( after seeing how Rockwall and Watauga faired against their opponents it makes me almost want to slide them to #3)
3.) Baytown ( could be #2)
4.) Katy ( played a tough one but showed they can take care of business)
5.) Sugarland ( solid performance against vanguard)
6.) FBCA (man handled a supposedly solid Rockwall team)
7.) Watauga ( I'm bumping them way down... They barely squeezed by emery last night and i think emery lost Every district game to all the guys listed up top)
8.) AHC

What u guys think??

Not sure I agree with the rankings but I understand why you would make adjustments and move most of the teams from District 3 up the ladder. The remaining teams better be ready to play all those D3 teams.

I know Austin Hill beat Abilene, but I understand that Abilene's best player didn't see the field after halftime. Does anyone know why he didn't play? I've heard it wasn't injury related. Not making excuses for Abilene but I'm sure part of the reason they lost is because their best player offense and defense didn't play at all. Does anyone know why he didn't play?

Db.... I guess the ranking ur not agreeing with is Watauga? I would assume they were at full and there was some concern #6 was not gonna play but I heard he did. Emery supposedly had the game in their hands after scoring a td with little time remaining and kicker missed xp after a false start penalty... That being said I just can't see them moving up past any of the other teams in that district. Maybe up one spot past FBCA

The FBCA vs Baytown Christian will be game to watch. I'm interested in how Trinity plays that #32 from Katy. The kid can run the football. And Logos is playing solid football. If they are within two sscores of GSB going into the 4th then Logos may pull it out. The pressure would be on GSB to get results. Logos would approach it as another quarter and wouldn't panic.

Granger has his own ranking system and this is the elite 8 so every team left is very good and deserving. I will say that district 3 in my opinion is the deepest in the state this year. 3-1 in the first round and Baytown Christian received a bye as district champs in the first round with a 10-0 record. Pasadena First Baptist pulled off what some consider an upset over Rockwall. Katy Faith West defeated RRCA for a second time this year which is hard to do. And, Logos Prep had little trouble over Waco Vanguard. We (Emery) were picked to lose by 41 points to Watauga Harvest and many said we would get 45'd. Unfortunately, we couldn't hang on for a clean first round sweep for the district coming up short 27-26. Our own inability not to avoid penalties and costly mistakes kept us from knocking off an 8-1 district 1 2nd place team. Hopefully, this experience in our first year of TAPPS district play and playoffs will pay off in the future for our young group of kids.

But, to have 5 teams qualify for the playoffs and two points away from having all 5 in the elite 8 is impressive. The remaining four district 3 teams are all very good and well coached. They will be a tough match for each team they face. Baytown Christian is well rested and deep, Katy Faith West is a tough team with a stud RB, Pasadena First Baptist executes their scheme very well, and Logos Prep has brought things together after a tough start to the season.

I'm also interested in the Watauga Harvest vs. Austin Hill Country match-up. They look to be similar style types of teams offensively.

Good luck to the rest of the district 3 teams. I'm sure you will represent the district and Houston area sixman well the rest of the playoffs.

I must add that having played Boerne Geneva that team and coaching staff have my utmost respect. Keep an eye on Austin Hill Country. Coach Phillip Hudgens always does a great job with his kids.

#10 had to come out due to a concussion.

I'm sorry to hear that. He is a great player. Sounds like ACHS did great just losing by a score with their best player out. I hope he has a quick recovery. I give it to that staff for not putting him back in the game. That was an important game to have your best player out and being so close. Especially with everything going on with head issues in football. I hope more teams follow their lead and put the health of players first.

District 1 did not do as good as I thought it would do. But I still believe Midland is the team to beat.

1. Midland
2 Boerne
3. Baytown
4. Watauga (if they can get everyone healthy they are a different team)
5. Sugar land
6. Katy
7. Pasadena
8. Hill country

Good luck to everyone still in it!

From here on out, I wouldn't be surprised who wins. Rankings and scores don't mean as much as you(including myself) would think. Whoever shows up and wants it more has a definite advantage.

I saw the Rockwall Heritage and Pasadena game and in my opinion I think Rockwall is the better team, but Pasadena came more prepared and with more fire and wanted more and they deservingly won the game. It's going to be exciting to hear how everything turns out and hopefully I make it to the semi-final or state game!

Turnovers were the difference in the FBCA-Rockwall game. It's difficult to overcome turnovers in Six-man. To have, I belive, three in a row to open the game is almost a death sentence. I said earlier that their defense against Fort Bend Chargers caused some seven turnovers and they created three early in this game to jump ahead.
If I were Baytown Christian I would drill the backs on ball handling because it looks like you can move the ball on them.

In response to TheQB yes it is the dropping of Harvest that far down that I don't agree with but I do understand the drop. I've seen them play a couple games this year and they are physically a small team probably the smallest left in the bracket and maybe the youngest I saw someone thought they were heavy in the senior class they only have I think 2-3 seniors on the roster. Not sure if they got intimidated by Emery size or what. They better wake up and learn to play from the opening kickoff otherwise it could be short run. I realize they don't have any playoff experience and maybe it was playoff jitters. Congratulations to all the teams who advanced. Rockwall getting beat was a big surprise probably the surprise of the weekend no disrespect to Pasadena. Turnovers play a big part in close games and evenly matched teams. So protect the ball.

Not sure who is bets team left but'
1st tier teams
Boerne
Midland
Baytown all have a great shot

2nd tier teams in no particular order
Logos
Katy
Harvest
Pasadena
Hill

Being the lone team in D3 that did not make playoffs after advancing to semis and quarters the past 2 seasons says a lot about the strength of our district this year. All 4 teams remaining have great rushing attacks. Logos and Baytown have great size and power on the OL and FB positions. Baytown rotates 5 RBs and all can do damage. They lack the passing precision of Katy and Pasadena. Katy and Pasadena differ in that they have one true RB each and can keep you off balance with play action. I knew after playing Pasadena why they would give others fits. Their district losses were competitive games decided in 4th quarter and their line is smaller but very athletic and extremely well-coached. If we brought extra defenders in the box to slow their power game, they killed us with quick accurate play-action. I think FBCA, Logos and BCA can all beat each other on any given day. I would put Katy just a hair below them but if Katy were at full health they would be in the mix. They have had injuries to key players in recent weeks, but #32 is a very gifted runner. Whichever team plays the best defense will have the advantage which is why I would lean towards Logos or BCA.

Don't read too much into our Katy score. It was a tie game just after halftime and they pulled #32 after another starter was lost to an injury..they also started a freshman QB and we played very well that game.

I agree with Norris. All teams are fairly equal to a degree i just think as coach pointed out that baytown has 5rb's and have way more depth than the others in the district.

We talked offenses but as far as defenses out of District 3, who gets the "big piece of chicken" on that side of the ball?

Well, for district PA in District III we have:

BCA: 134
Sugar Land: 186
Emery: 255
FBCA: 263
Alpha: 269
Katy: 294

Looks like BCA gets the KFC bucket.
