Who is the Best in the East?

Throckmorton will be the team to beat in DII east. Just because RS was put on top of DII rankings to start the season, it does not automaticly make them the best team. They will have to win out in the playoffs just like everyone else.

Throck in the East isn't right!!! They are a true west team that could win it for the east..............

How many have they won for both sides anyway?

Yap!

And as far as schedules go...I don't think anyone has a harder one than Paducah...this year a lot of top programs scheduled harder teams than I think many have done in the past. RS did add a top team in Balmorhea this year

RS will blow right through till Calvert in the Qtr finals. Then that'll be a toss up. I hope they play in Moody this year!

It would be nice if Richland Springs would play someone so we could accurately assess just how good they really are. Based on past history it's safe to say they are quality team but how would you know? I know you can only beat the teams on your schedule but perhaps a tougher schedule could be put together?

RS had the WEAKEST schedule in the state in: 2004, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, & 2012 and look at the final results in those years! Tough schedule or weak schedule it doesn't mean crap! The schedule you draw from Week 12-16 is ALL that matters!

Top teams in the EAST (in no particular order)

Division II
Richland Springs, Throckmorton, Guthrie, Calvert

Division I
Abbott, Blum, May, Aquilla, Gordon

Richland Springs faces the same problem each year that the better teams in the state face year after year: if you are a consistent winner, it becomes harder and harder to schedule good, competitive games because people lack faith in their team's ability to compete, and their record is more important to them than playing better competition in order to improve their team. A lot of good teams really don't face a lot of tough competition until 2-3 rounds in the playoffs. To those teams that will schedule these tougher teams during the year, good for you. You have to compete with the best to become the best.

NO you do not have to "compete with the best to become the best". RS is king and has played a weak schedule forever and until someone else can "setup" and win 6 rings, RS are kings!

You may have a point there, Little Doc, but they could have jumped on the opportunity to play Crowell when the Wildcats were looking for a game like Calvert did. Perhaps their schedule didn't permit such an arduous endeavour but I'm sure Crowell would have obliged.
Yeah I suppose Richland should have cancelled a district game (Mullin) and played Crowell.............

If I remember correctly, RS cancelled a game with lometa a couple years back, I think they called and cancelled the week of the actual game. RS was struggling and lometa was pretty good that year. Don't give me that "RS plays a tough schedule and can't schedule quality teams" nonsense. RS schedules teams they can beat, they don't test the waters against powerhouses in pre district play.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Bill. Who knew the playoffs were so important?

Centexfanalmost7, couple years back RS was 15-0 State Champs. I thank you are from Lometa

You must have not read my post correctly. I know they were 15-0, but they were 15-0 because they cancelled a game, the week of the game, a game they felt like wouldn't go their way. I know somebody else remembers this. It was talked about on here when it happened. And no I'm not from Lometa, it just sticks in my mind when stuff like this happens.

I also "think" you need to learn how to spell my name correctly.

Richland Springs cancelled with Lometa last year. Shortly after they were beat by May. I'm thinking that this was not a cast in stone home and home for two years type game. I'm thinking that Comanche Premier cancelled their season right before football started. This caused an open date for one of the teams which coincided with an open date with the other. For whatever reason Richland Springs decided not to go through with the game.

I think I thank i'm fixin' to hit the hay, argue later boys
PS RS will never lose another game until they do....................
It,s just high school sports not a war...

May is in what MIGHT be the toughest dist in DI east....and they scheduled some tough teams prior to dist...Calvert, WV, and Throckmorton. Which has helped them more than hurt them overall. So for DI it's May for the Beast of the East.....and I agree RS is definately a Beast of a Team...they have made that a tradition not a fad. That's a tribute to their school, coaches, students and fans...

They didn't exactly blow out Strawn, even with the elephant in the room.

5111 don't even go there. May, Throckmorton, Richlands Springs whoever may go all the way. Your a good man. Don't play the same game the dumpers play.

Swartz's wish I knew where you lived. I would get all the kids in the truck, take them down there and toilet paper ALL of your trees.
