Rigdon????

So, when he originally committed to Air Force and NCSU they were verbal commits. Now that he has signed a letter of intent, he can still back out of it. However, he will have to request a release from the school and could possibly lose a year of eligibility. I wonder if he will stick with Wyoming or if another school offers, he will switch again?
I think that depends on two or three things.
One, how he/Columbus finish this year. If he has big yardage and multiple TD's in the next possibly two games and they maybe win state that might up his stock regarding further offers. A fourth ring. This one in eleven-man along with maybe helping lead them to a state title might catch the attention of some bigger BCS schools.
Two and three are who and where. I've never met him or his family except his dad for a minute or two at the Dollar Tree in Stephenville when he was at Strawn. So, I know nothing really about him, them or how the next couple of weeks play out. I've seen play live a few times and on video several times. So, these are just "thoughts."
He's from Texas regarding football. Playing in central Texas at Richland Springs in elementary and JH 7th grade I think. 8th grade in east Texas playing 11 man (so he was already somewhat familiar with it). Then his freshman year in Strawn, that was fun to watch, all the way through AT&T. Benjamin for two years, the edge of west Texas. Now Columbus, s/e of Austin on the Colorado river in eleven-man.
He's already been seen in a Texas Tech uniform on a visit there, launching pad for Wes Welker who some on here have compared him to. Might he stay in Texas near family, friends and fans? IDK. If, say he does finish strong. A good word from NFL player HS HC Schobel and his son TCU QB commit, might he tag along? Or SMU, Houston, even Baylor? I think UT is stretch at this point. Though you never know these days with the portal.

He already has an offer from UH, so I'm going to say no interest there. I don't know him or his family either but like you said if Tech, TCU, SMU, or Baylor were to offer, he might switch?

Confirmed would be better than reported I would think. I’m just not sure why he would go to Wyoming when it appears he has better offers. Just my thought on it. Who knows.
I agree that I think it was because he was told he would be allowed to play both sports. It seems most schools want you to only focus on one sport. I think that might have played a huge role in his decision. I think, also, that seeing how Josh Allen went to Wyoming and excelled might also play a role.

Who knows. His last HS game might come against undefeated Edna this Thursday night at 7:00 at Rice's stadium in Houston.
Columbus is averaging 53.5 points/game, giving up 31.5 through 4 rounds, while Edna is 48.5 points/game giving up 10.5 (averages).

I don't do Pickems but I think it will be Edna 48-24 based on scoring history.

I was curious about Edna myself and looked around a little bit. They are undefeated and have lost in the semi-final to Franklin the last two years. They are good and hungry.
They have 6 shut outs so they can play defense, and started the season ranked # 5, behind 4- Hitchcock, 3- Franklin, 2 - Columbus (without GR involved at the time of publishing in DCTF).
Hitchcock beat Columbus by 1 pt in ot in the game GR was injured in the 1st q. Columbus beat Franklin convincingly last week with GR as MVP, 200+ yds, 3 TD's.
Edna beat # 10 Goliad convincingly, 49-21. They beat # 25 Orange Grove 28-0. Vanderbilt Industrial, # 21 in DII 3A (Columbus is DI 3A) by 3, 38-35. And Refugio, # 2, 2A DI by one TD, 42-35. Week before last they beat # 20 U C Randolph 42-28 to advance. Llano, last week, was not ranked in the top 25 at the start of the season.
I don't do pickems either. With QB Schobel, likely all state for his 4th time, headed to TCU and GR I think they might have a chance. Guess we will see.

And before anyone bashes me for picking against Columbus - I gave ChatGPT each team's playoff game scores and points given up, and asked it to predict the winner - based on scores and points allowed alone, that was what it came up with. Just curious to see how close it can be to make a prediction based off of just scores.

@Mike have you ever thought about doing that with the toy - feeding scores/rankings/spreads into ChatGPT to see how its output compares to the Toy?

It is something I've considered playing with, but I haven't had time to actually see it through.

I bet if you could feed it a season's worth of scores it could make playoff spreads. Not sure how accurate it would be early in the season with limited current data, unless maybe you also fed it rankings and schedules... would be cool to see what it comes up with for sure.

I am 100% positive people are using it for predictions around sports gambling and I imagine it's pretty accurate too given enough data points. Obviously we're not gambling, LOL.
