Everyone has an off night or an off game at times. You could easily see that Chaca wasn’t on for this game. Just making a couple more of those missed threes and the game turns around. Talking about him not passing it off to his teammates, the Jayton defense had everybody covered like a blanket most of the game. Chaca had to make his shots with his moves and skills, and was still excellently defended. I know that he was frustrated, but it didn’t show until after the final buzzer. No excuses, just two great teams going down to the wire.

If that video is of the young man who has been in the spotlight for last two years then a redirection of discipline is needed. discipline is an internal mindset that is learned each year as we mature. Exposure to society with great abilities can expose the weaknesses in that individuals discipline. Discipline includes not only the physical parts needed to athletic success but also the mental aspect. Controlling emotions in the quiet of locker room to controlling them in the heat of the moment are entirely different. The young man in the video is proof that there is a lacking of emotional discipline that’s a necessary precursor to future success in life. It’s understandable that a 16-17 yr old may not be fully aware of discipline needed for future success but the exposure to society that this young man has been exposed should have brought a realization that certain standards of discipline for that continued exposure are necessary to uphold the view of his success. That intrinsic desire for winning should be tempered with the understanding that winning is not an always event. Some of you will say he’s a 16 yr old and shouldn’t be held accountable for his actions in heat of the moment and he’s a kid that is entirely true but is he a successful 16 yr old mature disciplined kid. His athletic abilities are superior on the level he competes but his lack of emotional discipline needs to be learned or relearned. There could have been some physical harm to the young man who was hit and some might view it as physical assault. This could lead to some legal actions..These outbursts of emotions whether it’s from a 16 yr old or a 21 yr old have become a staple reaction to winning success to a sudden loss. I would hope that this incident will be a rarity for this young man as he matures as the pressures for success only increase as he goes to the next level and then on into his life. We all learn as we mature and for some it’s a necessity that it comes early in life

Can we try to remember this is still a kid we're talking about and leave the negativity out of it, please?

What occurred on the court following the game, I agree, was an unfortunate incident. One that I'm sure Grayson would love to turn the clock back on if he could. I'm sure we've all seen the video(s). Now let's just let the UIL and Benjamin school officials deal with it however they see fit.

If only everyone who commented on this site was disciplined enough to read all of the posts and let it go when we've reached the point of enough is enough...

I'm assuming that no one saw the clip of GR helping the kid from Gordon up in the semis. The kid slipped.and GR helped him up immediately so... yall gonna hate on the kid for that too?
The kid from Jayton also jumped up to celebrate, ran right up to and got right in Rigdons face aswell putting both of his hands on Rigdon thus getting shoved back into reality. Nobody wants to show that part of the video.

Kid from Jayton touching Rigdon was clearly an accident with a clear overreaction from the latter.

The kids from Jayton had just won the state championship against “the best player in the nation”. The Jayton kids were excited and celebrating. They were hugging and backslapping anyone and everyone they could. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist from another team to know to stay away from the celebration.
