Gordon vs Richland Springs - 52-6

I watched it online. At first it looked like Gordon might struggle to hold RS on defense. They got a few big pass plays and scored. Then they got down and almost scored again but Gordon held them inside the 10. Maybe even inside the 5 but I couldn't tell. After that it was pretty much over. I don't even remember if RS got another first down after that. Gordon's offense looked just fine. Some of their runs weren't as explosive as we're used to seeing but it got the job done and it's only week 1 so they'll only keep getting better.

Biggest thing I noticed is that Ry Reed didn't seem to be playing much if at all if he did play he didn't have hardly any impact on the game. I heard he didn't play in the 11 man scrimmage either so maybe he's hurt. He was suited out though so that's a good sign. Definitely hope he gets better if he is hurt.

Also saw a few disrespectful plays by RS players where they would stand up staring at the Gordon players after a good play. The first one was after a great catch by one of the RS receivers then he just stood over the Gordon player staring him down then looked like he stepped over him. That one should've been 15 yards but no flag. Not a big deal nobody was hurt but not something we should be allowing by any players. Hopefully the RS coaches addressed it so it won't happen again because it will definitely cost them 15 yards in the future. If it was called that time it could have been the difference between scoring on that drive or not.

Richland Springs looked really good out of the starting gate. They were efficient on offense, moving the ball and tackled well on defense. Their second(or third?) possession lost momentum when the quarter ended, and they switched fields. Then Gordon had the good goal line stand. The coyote's interception right after the goal line stand appeared to be another turning point but never materialized. Gordon looked sluggish at times, but their running game was dominant as usual.

It also makes for an even worse look, in hindsight, when you get 45'd.

I watched the Gordon juggernaut play last night. I knew that Coach Reed is a great coach, (probably one of the 3 best of all time) and I knew the team was a “one of a thousand” with 10 seniors and all athletes. They certainly may win 3 State Championships this school year. Football, Basketball, and Track.
But I was also wondering if RS’s E. Deeds is the first Freshman to score a touchdown against them?
