What would focusing on your team (or not focusing) as a fan have anything to do with whether or not they win? haha No one from Gordon has very high expectations. Gordon is just happy to be in the post season. Rochelle and Phillips supporters in Richland Springs, on the other hand, have been making some bold claims all year. You might want to point your criticism in that direction. haha
 
The Gordon longhorns have made it through the injury bug this year. But i heard they lost the 2nd best player for the year. That means they are one play away any given Friday from playing with their 3rd best running back. It can happen just ask Balmorhea. It can happen to any of this teams in this region. Whos the next guy up ?

Good thing they are playing on Thursday this week! haha... Just Kidding! Gordon has a pretty good crop of running backs this year.
 
I think there is a lot of sandbagging going on. Rochelle is excited about their team and feels like they have a real shot this year. Gordon is not just happy to be in the playoffs...They fully expected to be where they are. If this week plays out as expected Rochelle-Gordon could be a great game.

Early? He was coaching there when I went to high school, and I'm 43. That feller is pretty old!!!!! I don't think he retired early, lol.
 
Lets get some predictions on the Gordon VS Rochelle game. It seems like everyone is thinking speed vs power. Gordon has played some spread teams on their schedule but none like the one they will see on Friday in Hamilton TX with all that being said i will take tradition here give me the horns by 10.
 
Rochelle over Gordon without knowing a thang about the 2015 Longhorns. Sentimental choice.
It will boil down to who does the best job of stopping the other on third downs.
 
To the people that call Rochelle a speed team and Gordon a power team......I laugh very loud....

Gordon has size and power and they also have speed....

Rochelle has speed lots of speed, but when they go to a tight formation there offensive line averages about 5'11 240......and I've watched them play....they are very powerful when need be.....those big men run hard....have some great hands....and oh yeah just happen to be terrific blockers......I think there center is a all state canidate for sure....he is big ....aggressive. ...powerful....also a fantastic receiver....asked the eden bulldogs....he might lower his shoulder and knock your chinstrap loose or he might hurdle you on his way to a 75 yard touchdown reception...

I take the speed or power of the Hornets by 14 over Gordon
 
Hate that these teams have to play so early as there has been alot of talk about one of these teams being the contender at the State Championship for the East. The only team that they have in common is strawn. But we all know that when Gordon and Strawn play each other, anything can happen because of the rivalry. I see Gordon wining this game by 25 or so and moving on to represent in the State Championship. Then be an underdog to who ever they play from the West. Love the Playoffs.

By 25 that's a bold spread....you do realize in week 1 RS was up 22 with 1:32 left in the game right....and couple fluke plays later they end up winning by 36 but Gordon and Richland are nowhere near comparable this season.....and rochelle is very improved since week 1....I can respect your opinion of Gordon winning but 25 points is a bold spread....
I will stand by my Rochelle by 14
 
Gordon's best overall player has not suited in several weeks. He will be sorely missed on defense against what is said to be an outstanding spread offense from Rochelle.
Many look at Gordon's lack of meeting and beating the ranking's point spread this year as reason to count them out. I'm rooting hard for the Horns but do not expect them to win. Even more, I won't be at all surprised if they win; there is something about their grinding mentality and style of play that I find very appealing.
 
If Rochelle doesn't get the jitters and get a slow start, I look for the Hornets to take the Horns by 30 or more. I know that that grinding mentality and style of play can slow the game down, but a 3 and out doesn't take a lot of time off the clock. Then when you figure that Marty Flores can run the 80 in about 9 seconds, well, that doesn't take much time off the clock either. If both teams play their best, the game might finish early. IMHO
 
The lack of depth that Rochelle has may come into play if not this week, then next week. Both Gordon and Zephyr do not mind playing smash mouth football. It will wear a team down after a while. I like Rochelle this week by about 20.
