still not sure why the time is incorrect... server has correct time. message board is set for correct time zone... but for some reason not reading it correctly

Will see if it is working o.k. now …. Posting this at 9:56 a.m. Saturday morning December 1.

Fought a dang time sinc problem for a week last year on our Win Server. It got fixed … never really knew what we did to fix it. The wonderful world of Windows.

It is not the server. I logged on and the server time is correct. For some reason the software is doing this. I have changed time zone and all sorts of things and it acts like it is fixed but the post time are still not correct. I am going to refresh the cache on the site and see

The next question is, "is the problem really so annoying as to go to all the trouble to fix it?"
Just how well do you know Granger ???

OFB your post shows to have posted at 10:37 on the thread ….

yes, I gave up on it a few hours ago... BTW, JO, I have a brand new Mac Book Pro (not a retina screen) with 16GB RAM added and a solid state drive. ... ruined that warranty all by myself...

Congrats on the new machine. The solid states are nice and they are fast. If you wanna know just how fast by real world standards load up Photoshop on the new machine from a regular drive and then load it off the solid state. Wow. Night and day doesn't even begin to describe that difference.

I hope 16 gigs is enough.

I really like the idea of the new combo platter/solid state units and how they reallocate space and resources on the fly. The retinas are nice but not for the money difference in what I use a computer for. If I was working images, video or doing presentations for a living I might have to have one ….

Haven't heard of any real complaints of degradation on the Solids Jax. Not in the Mac world anyway.

Granger, nearly got another year over with and you will have a little respite from the site maintenance. Another year and another great job. As always thanks from all of us for your work.

funny thing about the 16 RAM, Apple officially still only says they support 8, but the guys at Frys said no biggie, so I did it. It was $60 for 16GB RAM. The SS drive is 250GB. Lightning fast startup. Had to buy new screwdrivers as I actually broke my old torx. I am starting to run some Python code (will be doing a program rewrite here this offseason) and it is so much faster than my 64-bit PC.

I am curious about these combo drives as well. Buddy is an Apple tech supervisor (at Apple) and he was just getting to know them. I will wait for gen 2.

There have been a few generations of Macs that have been able to go beyond Apple Spec on memory. Have never understood why they under speced machines.

Anything to do with read/write is gonna be a new world. Compiling should reap benefits of the SS drive and all that memory.

The new quad core processors won't hurt anything either ...

Are you doing a rebuild with python for fun?

I gave up on trying to learn python when The Screen Savers was still on Tech TV. You know, back when Tech TV was still a network.
