Rankings/ talk

In some ways that is true, but you can get an idea. I do wish the two teams played this season tho. Coach Satcher is a great coach who will do big things with Mt.Calm as he did in buckholts.

Hey, how can you complain? Aggieland is in the top 18 of the TAIAO. Whoop!

I still have the same question, how can there be an Association of Independent Athletic Organizations? Once you have five capitalized words and 18 teams, you are no longer "independent."

The lack of respect given to teams just because they are a christian and or homeschool association is quite frankly sad. I have seen many UIL teams play this year that are ranked 100 spots ahead of these teams that I know for sure could not last the entire time with those schools. Whoever does the ranking system just needs to get out to some non-UIL games for once.

My thoughts is a lot of the numbers he's saying he uses relies on such as strength of schedule which he's looking back last year. Take Woodson for example they didn't play last year do to loosing a player due to injury. But they rank above teams that played and and won. I'm sure there's several teams that lost 5-9 seniors that's not looked at either. Don't get me wrong most the top choices are good but it's your middle rankings that relies on more west than central and east.

You do know the Guru really uses a dart board of Texas with sixman towns on it and only "works" on it after sampling Goob's evercleer?

Makes sense Paducah is still under MC and MC didn't even play 10:00 min of a game.

Thank you. The season does not truly get going until what was once called by someone the Toy is questioned.
Hint. It get's more accurate as the season progresses. I.E. if Paducah continues to win and beats MC they will pass them in the rankings.
Note. What really matters is where your ranked at Christmas.

That would be what was and still is "The Toy" kind sir.

simple solution............ do your own rankings.
Have you read any of Granger's descriptions of his system? I have a question for you; Have you seen every team in every classificaton play? If not how do you propose to objectively rank them?
Really Shelton just use my system and you'll feel better about things.................

Come on out to Richland Springs Fri night and test your theory. This should be a good test for both teams as the #1 ranked school in Div 2(small school) take on the # 1 ranked school in the Assn. of Independent Athletic Organizations, Rankings. Both teams come into this game at 2-0.

How bad you gonna feel when Happy not only beats valley... But it's over before regulation ends(45 baby)!!!

He must be importing some of that stuff that is legal in Colorado now .... LOL

This game is being played at Valley I believe. The Patriots play well at home.

A 12 point spread with two teams ranked as high they are is not much .... Happy is good team going up against a good team with years of great tradition. Would be a good one to attend.

Looks like a fan will get his full 4 quarters worth of admission charge on this one. Good Luck to both ...

The only way to get better is to play a stronger team. Who benefits from games that are called by the 45 point rule week after week? No one! Sure, your record looks good, but your level of play isn't tested to a level that benefits you.

Has anyone checked the Power Ratings and not just the Rankings ?

Just askin' .... Does a 65+ point spread have any relevance here ?

Gotta love those newbies !!

I think it comes down to scheduling. Go look at who the better private schools play each year. Dallas Covenant, SA Feast, Waco Live Oak, and the Waco Methodist Home all play good public schools every year.

Covenant - Calvert and Strawn
FEAST - Richland Springs
Live Oak - Lometa and Calvert
Waco Methodist - Cherokee, Calvert and Lometa
Stephenville FAITH - Cherokee, Throckmorton, Blanket, Cranfills Gap and Sidney
Abilene Christian - Crowell, Strawn and Ira

My point is... if you don't play good public school teams then you can't complain about being ranked behind them. Any good private school can go beat up on other private schools, whoopty doo... have you seen the level of play some private schools are at? Horrible... nothing against their kids or coaches, but reality is there's a big difference between a 2nd tier private school and a top 25 public school. If you want your private school mentioned in the same breath as the good public schools then schedule some of them. Schedule some big names and show people that you can beat them. It's one thing to say "ohhh my team is great" but we only play private schools. It's another thing to say "my team is great, cause we gave RS or Calvert a dang good game".

Over the years the Public vs Private debate and argument has gone 'round the corner, 'round the block and 'round the world. It is an issue based on emotion and a perception of defending one's school and team.

It comes up every year with every new crop of private school entries and every new crop of private schools participants parents. The points of contention come from posters who have no real world base to compare "THEIR TEAM" to the world of six man.

In my experience no other athletic endeavors compare to the "now" class 1A. There is no other athletic realm that has such a range from the haves and the have nots. Six man football success, unlike success in no other classification level can depend on ONE individual. Two can make a huge difference. Three is incalculable and any combination of those paired with 5 to 8 more average athletes can make a very good to very very good six man team.

On the inverse - having one average athlete and average coaching playing against teams with average to less athletes and average to less than average coaching on teams only competing against each other can lead to a view and feeling that these teams can compete week in and week out with other six man teams in the other world can be distorted.

In my experience the bulk of the Privates fall in the later category here. Taking nothing away from them they are just not competitive as a whole. ( let the screaming begin ... it always does about here ). As there is every year there are always the 1 or 2 teams that can compete with the upper tier of the Public Schools but these are the exception instead of the rule.

So a suggestion for the Private School Supporters ( good for you for being loyal ) is to apply the 3 "G's" for researching and becoming a better fan.

  • 1) Gear up
    2) Gas up
    3) Go up or down

to the nearest Six Man games involving some of top 5 rated teams in D1 and D2. Take the time to investigate and see for yourselves what you are talking about. This doesn't mean one game but 3 or 4. Remove the Rose Colored glasses and take an honest look at what you are competing with. It will make you a better supporter of your team and it's league.
