I read a report about some players from Buckholts not being allowed to play friday night because they were wearing pink for breast cancer awareness. I read about this on Saturday, but I have not heard anything else about it. Maybe what I read was wrong. Can anyone fill me in on what is what?

I dont know anything about this story but if they were wearing pink jerseys they wouldnt be allowed to play. Ive looked into doing this before and then selling the jerseys and donating the proceeds to cancer research but found out it is against the rules to wear pink unis.

I was at the game, they supposidly had pink shoe wrap and pink towels and that's all I heard about. I was sitting on Oglesby's side. One of the parents said they talked to the players and they couldn't play because of the pink. That's really all I know.

I hope that there is more to the story, and it was not because of a uniform issue. This is not a battle that a coach wants to make a stand against.

My players donated $10 a piece for the privilege to wear pink for the month of October. The money paid went to the funds that the cheerleaders were raising to go to the Susan G. Komen fund. No one is required to participate, but they are not allowed to wear pink in practice/game if they did not donate. We talk to our players about the significance of cancer & cancer awareness, ask players to share any personal stories. We make sure players are not wearing pink as some sort of fashion statement - that it means something to them whether directly affected by breast cancer or some other type of cancer.
7 players were not allowed to play because the superintendent didn't allow them due to the fact they wore pink laces or a pink towel.. also the superintended was living rent free on campus he was forced to move but anyways buckholts coach and superintendent messed up big time with that

If I were Buckholts, I would be trying to find a way to spin this quickly... This could get ugly and get to press. Not supporting breast cancer is not a good stance. Better start a fund raiser NOW.
But I would take a wild guess that since everything else over there is a poop show, this will not end well for them either.

Two of the Buckholts players walked over to the Oglesby side and watched the game behind us in their football pants and had pink tape on their shoes. The coach wouldn't let them play because they were wearing pink is what I was told by other fans when I asked what they were doing. The score was 48-0 Oglesby I believe.

It was pretty simple, the Coach and Supe said they weren't allowed to wear pink, and the boys did anyway. The Supe told us that either they all wore pink, or no one. Not sure if that was conveyed to our players or not, because the ones that sat are really good kids. It's really sad, because it's not as though the school was screaming for unity beforehand.

The parents in Buckholts are starting a war with the superintendent. All of these kids in the middle are suffering, because IN MY OPINION both sides are handling the situation completely wrong. I graduated from Buckholts, and while I was there I actually liked the school. However the people in the town are extremely quick to scorn school faculty if they don't do things the way they want. They never look at the bigger picture, they just riot. The superintendent, is only focused on the budget of Buckholts. All he wants to do is spend the least amount of money possible. Granted that Buckholts financial situation (like most small schools) is not very good. Then on top of that he acts like the king of the school, without taking the advice of other faculty and members of the community. Both the parents and superintendent in Buckholts are hurting the school more than helping it.
