6 man History

Hey i forgot to tell you guys. If your having trouble with getting your clippings converted over so you can upload the occasional clip here.

If you have Windows 7; Try the "Clipping tool" you should find it under accessories. Pretty easy to cut and paste anything into a “png” file, most of the time you don’t even have to resize it.

How many College six-man teams/Leagues have yall come accross so far? I know bearkat has seen the onw from Amarillo, but I have come across atleast 4 more from other states.

In 1938 Kansas and Nebraska had a few, there was a big ole debate about the JUCO six-man clubs needing to fall under eligibility rules Every 2 years of six-man was equal to 1 year of 11-man at the bigger colleges.

1938 St johns College in Arizona

Iowa 1941 (Britt, Trinity, Northwestern, Washington and Tipton)

1943 California had 3, San Bernadino, ChaffeyJayess amd Riverside. in 44 they added Fullerton and Pomona.

1946 Whitewater College Wisconsin

Here's an article on a new 6 man district formed in 1938 that originally had Pyote, Toyah, Buena Vista, Barstow, and Mentone as members. Barstow and Mentone dropped out before play started on September 30, and Balmorhea joined later that month.

Not 6 man history, but definetely Texas football history.

In 1933, the UIL adopted the "8 semester rule" which defined eligibility for any UIL activity as having attended high school for less than 8 semesters. The prior rule was 4 years of participation in UIL sanctioned activities.

Whitewater College in Wisconsin (probably at that time either Wis. State Teachers College at Whitewater or Wis. State College at Whitewater) became the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater; I graduated from there in 1978. It's won 6 of the last 8 NCAA D3 football championship (played in 8 of the last 10, all against Mount Union which has been there since God was a kid; missed three years since 1993). And last year, UW-W won the men's D3 in football, basketball and baseball.

I believe this is the rule I was hit by or a similar one. In 89' my mom moved from Buckholts to Cameron, I didn't know anyone in Cameron that was headed to Buckholts for school, so as a freshman I did 2 adays with Cameron. I played one game in 11-Man JV. After that first week of school I decided that cameron was too crowded and begged my mom to let me go back to Buckholts. I found me a ride the following day:). I missed the cut-off by a couple of days and only got to practice.

It sure sucked watching from the side line that year.

OBK I got your email, but I cant respond to it from work.

On the San Gabriel NYA losses.

I had to read it twice but I beleive they were losses to San Gabriel HS? Maybe?
