6 man History

Back on the team of the decade stuff.......

The 1990's - Panther Creek

It was not even close.
As a Midland Christian alumn let's clarify that this is a UIL only list; otherwise there'd be a debate over the 1990s. It's subjective, and MCS moved to 11 man in 1996, but one could argue that winning 5 consecutive 6-man state championships from 1991-1995, a feat I don't know has been accomplished by anyone else in TX football history at any level, public or private, and a 31 game winning streak that included two undefeated seasons, merit "team of the decade" status.

Yes, it could be. But like you said, this was UIL only.

DO you have the scores from their games in the 1990's? Lone Star is missing a bunch of them.

Huh? You are not serious are you? That's a brand new school (as far as semi old farts like me are concerned). Opened doors in 2005... figured you know Steel

I've never run across that school as far as I know. It's not in Lone Star in the Ghost League......

I played in a lot of those games but don't remember many precise scores. I have some old yearbooks somewhere that have some of them. Their info is usually correct but sometimes contains like errors, like Maxpreps and even newspapers. If I get enough free time at some point I might reach out to some contacts who should have more definitive info.

I found an article today in the Cameron Harold 9 Oct 1939 that has a six-man football game anounced for Ad Hall playing Seaton on 10 Nov 39. Pretty neat i think

Center was not eligible for a pass...that is one...(mercy rule was not an original rule you are also correct on that one but not what I was going for with this trivia question)...original rules that are no longer rules...you got one of them!

"clear pass" rule is the one that is a part of the original rules that has changed...original rule called for the man taking the snap from center had to make a pass either forward or backward of at least 2 yards...later dubbed the clear pass rule...so the man under could not make a hand off, it had to be a pitch or pass of at least 2 yards

I don't think anyone will get the other original 1934 rule that is no longer a rule...it has to do with equipment...
