Never have. I'd like to get a look at those athletic club photos though.....

Sounds like a road trip for somebody.

It'll have to be next year. I'm blowing all 3 weeks of vacation on an Alaska trip with the DSW for our 30th. She's been wanting to camp, so I'm gonna take her REALLY camping.......

If you search from google on "Rodney J Kidd grandson" you will find a link to a youtube video of clips from Friday Mountain Ranch.

I'm at work and we have youtube locked down, so I haven't watched it for myself.

happy hunting...

I found an article in the 9/6/1970 Abilene reporter-News about the Texas Professional Six Man League.

JERRY GAGE is hopeful of turning a full-time hobby into a full-time job.
In addition to his current work, he serves as general manager of the Key City
Chiefs, the first profesnional six-man football club.

The Chiefs are accepting challenges from other West Texas teams this fall,
having already lined up six opponents as explained elsewhere in the sports
section.

However, the eventual goal of Gage and associates is to form a Texas
Professional Six-Man Football League. That's correct. In reality, the six-man
game is different from the regulation game in some respects.

As a lot of people already know here in the Big Country since their high
school teams, the emphasis is on offense for the most part.

Seeing the Scoreboard light up is what the fans really like to see. For that
reason, I feel a lot of people might really enjoy watching the Chiefs

Here's the other article in the same paper.

Chiefs SetFor Opener In Hamlin

The Key City Chiefs have already lined up three football
games and have tentative arrangements for three additional contests.

Jerry Gage, general manager of the local sixman
professional outfit, reported the opening game
would be at 5 p.m. Saturday against Hamlin on the road.

The Chiefs will then play an Abilene Christian College
student body team Sept. 19 and a return match at home
with Hamlin Oct. 3. Anson, San Angelo and Sweetwaler teams have
already agreed to provide opposition and dates will be
finalized in the near future.

Gage is hopeful of getting more challenges so that the
Chiefs can play around 14 games in the next four months.

The Chiefs started workouts last week at Hardin-Simmons University.
They'll drill at 6:30 p.m. daily and any interested players should report for
tryouts at that time. Gage will pick a 24-player squad Friday.

I wonder if Don has seen this game?

Lubbock Stomps Key City Chiefs

LUEDERS — Lubbock's Miller brothers were too much
for the Key City Chiefs here Sunday, as quarterback Don
Miller ran for two touchdowns and passed to brothers Jerry and
Carl for two others in a 38-0 romp.

It was the first loss in three games for the Chiefs, Abilene's
professional six-man football team.

quarter with four touchdowns, the first on a nine-yard run by
Larry Holladay with a Chiefs' fumble.

The Chiefs will play Big Spring at Sweetwater a week
from from next Sunday.

I have long known about this league...just never had the time to research it...thanks obk...now if you can find out about one starting up in the Austin area in the mid/late 70s you will take the cake!

Or find articles about Allen HS football in 1936-37 to prove to them they weren't playing six-man then...which the believe they were but they werent...I tried telling them but they don't believe me...need hard evidence...which they dont have proving they played six-man...

From the 11/2/1970 Big Spring Herald....

Six-Man Club Is Explored

Bob Long, Abilene, president of the United Football League
met here Saturday concerning possibility of a Big Spring
professional six-man football team in the league.

He said that investment in such a team is a guaranteed
money-back plan that would have a significant effect
on Big Spring next fall.

With him were Richard Faust, coach of the Sweetwater team,
Jerry Gage, coach of the Big Spring team. Meeting with them
at the Holiday Inn were Harold L. Davis, Gary Hise, coach of
the Big Spring team, and Dennis Burnett and Larry Broughton,
two players from the Big Spring Sand Devils.

In a game Saturday at Sweetwater, the Sand Devils beat the
Key City Chiefs of Abilene 32-18. This Saturday at Steer Stadium,
the Sand Devils will meet the Sweetwater Bronchos

A typo concerning Jerry Gage, he was coach of the Abilene team......Maybe I'll notify the BSH 40 years later.....
