Yes I have seen Mt. Calm play the past couple of years. Yes I saw Coach Satcher's teams at Buckholts. His teams are very good at scoring points. The problem is on the defensive side of the ball. No disrespect, that is just what I have observed. His teams like to play offense. By looking at their schedule for this year, it looks like they will go 10-0, (don't think anyone has a easier schedule) win their first playoff game, then lose in the second round. They will be one of the final 16 teams left when they lose ,that is how I got #16. If you want to say they will be #9, that is ok, #9 through #16 are all in the same place, watching #8 through #1 the following week.

Won't disagree with anything you said. My weakness in 6-man has been adjusting to the defensive side of the ball. I've never had a d-coordinator, so this year having the chance to hire Hinkson from Aquilla, we're looking forward to the defensive side of the ball being much improved.

Are we talking about HC Kirk Hinkson who's taken Aquilla to the playoff's multiple times?
If so, going from no DC to him is like Wow.

Same one. We're both expecting great things working together.

I was wondering why coach Hinkson left Aquilla for Mount Calm, not that it matters, just curious. I graduated from Aquilla in the 70's , and we had a different coach every year of high school for basketball and football it seems, we had Henry Strauch for some of those years (68-73?) It will be fun to watch Mount Calm play now since I live here . Last season was great for the community.

Isn't he from Penelope, back when they went to the playoffs and beat Aquilla in 2010 in Dist. , but lost to them in the playoffs? If so, who did Penelope get for a coach?

That's him. He's been gone from Penelope for a couple years. Ballew has been in Penelope for a while.

You do realize that Calvert or Jonesboro will fall to the same fate you predictin for Mount Calm? If both win in the first round, Jonesboro and Calvert will play in the second round and one has to lose. And if MC lose to Richland Springs in that same round, is that really much of a prediction? And as far as they schedule being the weakest, I didn't realize Bynum, Allen Academy, Aquilla, Trinidad, Fannindel and Oakwood had become bottom dwellers.

I dont see how Aquilla can be classified as a "bottom dweller" when they went to the playoffs the last few years, just a tough dist. over here. Nobody stays in the top 10 forever.

Yes I do realize that calvert and Jonesboro will fall to the same fate. So one of them will be ranked #9 - # 16 just like Mt. Calm. Personally I think Jonesboro will beat them this year because I don't think Ware will not be able to handle the atmosphere in Calvert (if you know what I mean). And yes all of the teams you listed are pretty much bottom dwellers except Aquilla who will be down this year due to a large number of graduates and whole new coaching staff.

Wait I might be wrong Mt. Calm schedule's might not be the easiest I have seen, I overlooked Penelope, Avalon, and Waco Parkview. Oh, another one Lewisville Founders Classical. Is that a school? If so I would put my radar on that one.

Your point was made. 90% of the schedule was put together, with two year commitments, prior to my arrival, and at a time where those schools were at the same level as Mount Calm. Parkview and Lewisville were added, because they were the only two schools to answer the post requesting a game to fill in our holes. The summer I got here, everyone wanted to play against Mount Calm, but after we won a couple games, crickets were all that answered. No, I'm not saying anyone was dodging us; but very tough to find a top 10 opponent in the middle of two year commitments. I would love to see Calvert (Who I personally called to try and schedule this year), Crowell, Throckmorton, Richland Springs, Abbott, Loraine or any top 10 school. But we won't have that option until next year, during the new redistricting. I know it seems easy to put ten tough teams on your schedule; but when you come in late, you get what you get. We are not, have not and will not dodge top programs! I appreciate your opinion and comments, but please don't insinuate our schedule is weak due to creative scheduling, when 60% of the teams on the schedule were much better than us when the schedule was created.

Come on Coach, you are talking like a politician now. To get to the top you have to step on a few toes. Commitments are broke every day. At least play against your pee-wee squads after half to give the people their money's worth.

No sir. Had too many schools cancel on me and it's not cool. I tell my kids all the time, we're going to win some and we're going to lose some; but we'll always do both the right way. Got to practice what I preach. Scheduling is so subjective. So many teams roller coaster their success and failure. Tough to predict teams strengths two years in advance.
