Who will shock the world

I have not seen a Cherokee game yet this season. So I am very much looking forward to the RS / Cherokee game. That said, to be fair, unless I completely missed something, the defensive plays I saw RS make at scrimmage left much to be desired.

If there is one team (at week 3), that can give the Yotes a run for their money on the regular season schedule, it is Cherokee.
Cherokee always seem to give the Yotes the run for their money. No matter the rankings, ratings or talent. Last year, Cherokee led the Yotes at halfime by a touchdown. The Yotes won 92 - 70. 2 years ago, the Yotes barely won 84 - 80. This year's match will be another barnburner. The Yotes will have the home field advantage. But they need to improve their kicking game.

Their defense has improved since the scrimmage. That's the purpose of scrimmages. Identify your weaknesses and address them. They shut out their opponents.
Shutting out High Island and a homeschool doesn't prove much. Funny that the rankings show RS at number 2 since the competition doesn't support that. What happened to San Antonio FEAST and Marble Falls being on the schedule? Padding the schedule with young teams as usual. This is tackle football not tag. So when Cherokee comes to town someone will actually get tackled?

Dave Campbell also ranks Richland Springs 2nd. Nothing funny about that. Just keeping it real. Richland Springs will win 10th State Title in December.

Richland Springs UIL.webp

I have watched both teams play. Cherokee can hit. But Richland Springs can hit harder. Coyote Keston Lusty is a defensive beast. He was all-state last year. He is even tougher this year.

I'm not sure what the strategy was on the making of the schedule, if there was a strategy. JB is in the school directory, perhaps you should call and ask and report back?

Rankings have RS at #2. Again not sure what all goes into that number. Perhaps you can call and ask and report back?

Or ... a better idea is to hijack another thread with opinions, rumors and guess work about RS. That's always productive. lol.

It definitely gets your attention. Lol Capitol Homeschool used to be some of the powerhouses that JB would bravely schedule. Gone are the days when he scheduled meaningful games with the likes of Borden County and Happy. Even May was dropped from the schedule. The possum schedule prevails or found dead on road dilla schedule.

So, not knowing how the scheduling works ... I assume that these schools you list (May, Happy, etc) could call and request to play RS? I assume they don't. Is it all JB's responsibility to schedule these teams so that you can be happy? lol

There was a time, (perhaps still?), that RS had trouble finding teams to play them during regular season. How do you know that JB didn't attempt to get those teams you listed to play? You should call and ask him. Let me know how that convo goes for you. lol.

I have never understood the flawed argument used that RS is scheduling easy teams during the regular season intentionally. Because when they reach the playoffs, as they do nearly every year, they still manage in many cases to go deep into the playoffs. Therefore invalidating the argument that they are not good enough to beat the "good" teams. Championships aside, when RS goes to the playoffs, it is rare, from my recollection, that they don't end up at least in the final 4. Am I wrong, Mr. Longhorn?

Back when McLean was the powerhouse( Sept 13, 2019) they posted they were needing a game and RS just happened to be open that week, so a few of the sixman fans pointed out to JB that he could pick up a marque game at a neutral site but he declined to do so. There is no flawed argument that JB schedules easy teams, all you need to do is view RS schedules on Lone Star Football Network and it jumps out at you. Cherokee is the only competition on their schedule he can't avoid.

Ok, well that is definitely an opinion you're entitled to. I don't know the reasoning behind the scheduling, not sure anyone but JB himself does. However, I do know that he does not schedule teams for your viewing pleasure. lol. Perhaps if you make friends with him?

Cherokee will be a challenge. I look forward to you to retracting many of your statements about RS if they pull out the win.

Either way, San Saba county will have at least one, likely two, 6 man teams in the playoffs. If San Saba HS keeps it up, then a clean sweep of San Saba county teams in the playoffs. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Retract that RS plays a soft schedule? Guess you are afraid to look at their schedule over the last ten to fifteen years? If RS beats Cherokee this season it only proves that JB needed to import some talent, the homeboys certainly couldn't get it done. And you are OK with that.

Nonsense. Same tired old argument / rumor / opinion.

Who cares what kind of schedule any teams play? Some teams want to play tough schedules, some play easier schedules. Some coaches want to play teams they can't get scheduling to work with and some have to play teams they'd rather avoid. All that matters is that the kids get to play every week and get the chance to represent their school and community in district and, hopefully, into the playoffs.

Additionally, it's pretty silly to diss a team for playing a weak schedule when they're consistently in the playoffs and usually pretty dang good.

Finally, what does any of this have to do with this topic? 🤦‍♂️

Absolutely nothing about the topic. Tex will never miss a shot to try and diss RS. He’s been arguing that same ole schedule thing for 10 years. I’d bet it’s 45% of his post count. Keep it rolling Tex I’m here for you buddy.
