Statistics can be interpreted differently by each side of an argument.
For example in my county positive tests for COVID-19 has increased over 150% since last week. Sounds terrible, right? Well in real numbers we are still under 10 confirmed cases with no deaths or hospitalizations.
The governor’s decree that all citizens must wear face coverings is toothless. In fact the order contains specific language prohibiting law enforcement from “ detaining, arresting or confining to jail as a means to enforce the order”.

Not quite sure why the governor needs police enforcement.... shouldn't everyone just wear a mask when out in public? If it does nothing, then no harm done, if it prevents the spread, then wearing a mask is helping others not get sick. I am not sure how schools are gonna get mask on little kids though... their boogers are so tasty

I guess the point I was attempting to make is if the governor mandates the wearing of masks and does nothing to make that mandate enforcible, the implication is that the wearing of masks is not effective.
Having said that, because of age and health issues we choose to mask up even though masks do nothing to protect us from others. I think that masks may provide the benefit of acting as a social barrier by causing others from coming in close contact.
Medically speaking most of the masks worn are ineffective in stopping inhaled germs.

New guidelines released by the UIL. It looks like they are moving forward with starting the season on time with some precautions that will be a challenge to enforce.

Unrelated: I just found out that a member of our community tested positive in another county where he has been staying for some time. They included him in their county total cases and they also included him in our county cases since he has an address here. Basically this person is being counted twice. It makes me wonder how many other people are being counted twice.

FCSA you are as bad as cnn or msnbc - give the whole story. Here are the sports Stanford is cancelling - The 11 sports that will be discontinued are men's and women's fencing, field hockey, lightweight rowing, men's rowing, co-ed and women's sailing, squash, synchronized swimming, men's volleyball and wrestling.
Why are they cancelling, because they are "not sustainable" and that alternatives such as budget reductions and fundraising were "insufficient to meet the magnitude of the financial challenge before us."

There’s a term known as “assumption of risk.” Sports are voluntary. Legally speaking, schools probably have more liability with forcing in person attendance than they do allowing students to participate in voluntary activities. I wonder if students will be allowed to do distance learning all day then show up for 8th period athletics. That’s a whole other topic I guess. FCSA, I’m sorry to hear about your loss. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Holloway. Another friend went to the ER today and is now in intensive care, COVID.
He was going to “tough it out until I talked him into at least setting up a teleconference with his physician who told him to go to the closest ER.
Chant, I pray you never experience the loss and grief that you seem to have somehow avoided. It shows in your attempted degrading characterization of me. However, if you live long enough you will experience that pain and grief. We all do and will.
The good news is that even with the losses, we are left with wonderful memories of the times before.

More people die from the standard flu than this hoax virus! I had a friend whose wife was a RN died from the flu. Mid 30's. Came home found her on the floor dead. What did he do, he didn't ask for the country to be shut down! Move to Michigan or New York and wheel Greg Abbott with you. This is God's Country and Football Country! MAGA FOR LIFE!

Another person goes home with flu like symptoms and has to stay Home for a couple of weeks.

My comment was about your statement that Stanford had cut 11 sports for this fall. You failed to tell the whole story to make it sound like they cancelled because of Covid deaths or something. They cancelled them because they are non revenue generating sports and budgets will be cut so those outliner sports are being cut. All I was saying if you are going to make a point back it up or give all the details, leaving it hanging doesn’t help the discussion which is what cnn and msnbc do. That’s the point.

The death rate isn't the issue, the issue revolves around overwhelming hospitals. COVID isn't that deadly, but it's crazy contagious. It would be horrible if hospitals have to start choosing who should get medical care and leaving the ones they don't select on the side of the road somewhere.
The only thing I know 100% is I am voting for Trump. While you may not like X about him or wish he'd do Y differently, he'll enforce simple laws fairly. Then again, getting rid of those liberal mayors would really be the way to "fix stupid." I honestly don't know how anyone could take them seriously anymore.

Businesses do however have the right to refuse service to individuals who enter their business that refuse to comply with posted provisions. That is their right whether you agree or not. If you don’t agree, don’t patronize that business. Simple..........,

The one that doesn't make sense is shutting down indefinitely just because people might get sick. Like you've said before, people die from the flu as well. I just saw El Paso is keeping schools closed until September 7th. That will have an effect on athletics for sure!
