Four upsets in the quarterfinals? I don't remember anything like this.

# 9 Water Valley over # 5 Westbrook.

# 16 Oglesby over # 13 Richland Springs

# 21 Klondike over # 10 Follett

# 67 Oakwood over # 37 Iredell

The Oakwood game is the only one I personally felt was an upset. None of the others really surprised me. I felt the RS Oglesby game could go either way.

Klondike has been a better team than more a couple of teams ranked above them and they've proved that on the field. The next game will be more than a handful though.

Could have been that Iredell was a little tired from the slugging match they had with Strawn. Sometimes it's difficult to get up to play several tough games in a row.

Results seem to agree with that statement! Always fun to have an underdog in the mix this late in the season.

I got to thinking didn't Oakwood make it to the QF or maybe even semi's a few years back. So, I went to lonestarfootball.net. Duh! I was there, the rain game in Alvarado in 2018, poorly attended for a semi. Setting under a big umbrella the whole game, not raining hard, but raining. Strawn won 51 - 6, on the way to back-to-back titles.

Looking back, Oakwood in their 11-man days went 13-1 in 1990 losing to Bartlett in the semi, then in 91' lost to Memphis 21-14 in the final. They have history. Still same coach from 2018, maybe early season injuries this year?

I admire and respect his non-district scheduling as well. Also, the ability to keep the kids locked in and focused on "chess" instead of "checkers". Very impressive, Klondike! Keep rolling!

Zach got injured during the Strawn game and didn't get to play the Iredell/Oakwood game. That had alot to do with the outcome of the game I felt...
