Sixman trivia

Just to add to the WV question. It was Elvin whatever who was coach. He was there only one year. Diddle Young left WV and went to Lakeview. The star of the team went to San Antonio the next year and contracted polio and died.

Dogface - What did she do after High School...I think someone in the Texas Tech Women's basketball ring of honor...or whatever it's call, is a far better choice.
Oh,
under those conditions
perhaps your right.
I was just thinking of HS accomplishments.

Richardson...while a good athlete who's feet is very unique...didn't even set 1 state record...she wasn't even the first athlete to win a State Team track title single handedly...I think she does run track at A&M...I think she is in the conversation and a good choice

There was a female athlete from May back in the 80s I think...or 70s...that was a great basketball player and track star...can't remember her name...

Maybe this has been asked before, but who is your choice for the best FEMALE 6 man school athlete ever in Texas and maybe the USA
Perhaps,
the Q should be re-stated
for clarification of post-HS.

From a strictly HS perspective
it's Bonnie.
Period.
Just ask Savvy!!

Still disagree with you Dogface....she didn't set a single state record and her feat had been done before...there have been better state track meet times and measurements posted by six-man females who competed in multiple events and who made it to state more than once...and plus they were much better basketball players in HS (and college) than Richardson was

Michi Atkins - Loraine HS - Texas Tech Women's Basketball player

Member of the Texas Tech Hall of Honor:
Women's Basketball (1993-96)
First team All-American ('96)
Southwest Conference MVP ('95 & 96)
SWC Woman Athlete of the Year ('95 & 96)
Honorable Mention All-American ('95)
Named MVP of SWC Post-season tourney ('95)
2nd Team All-SWC as a soph ('94)
4th leading scorer as a frosh for '93 national champs
All-Time leading scorer in SWC women's basketball history
Left Tech the school's 2nd leading scorer behind only Carolyn Thompson
Named to All-Time Lady Raider SWC Team in '96

By the time her college career ended, Atkins had become the leading scorer in Southwest Conference history with 2,134 points

Atkins played professionally in Jerusalem, Israel, and briefly was a member of the WNBA's Charlotte Sting

O and she was a bad a$$ in high school too...During her senior year at Loraine, Atkins averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds per game and was named to the Class A All-Area Super Team (and other honors as well)

She was the first FEMALE
to win singlehandedly
which is a state record in itself.
JMHO.
She also played Basketball and Tennis.

So,
all she did was play Basketball?
(he said tongue in cheek)

Who was the girl from the sixman school who single-handledly won the state track team title a couple years back (I think she did it two years in a row) ... I remember an article about her that said she wished her parents would let her play football ... and she wouldn't be just a kicker, but play defense ...

Dude,
go back to sleep.
I think her name was
BONNIE RICHARDSON!!!!
BAM!!!

That's Bonnie Richardson...and Dogface...I believe I read somewhere that the feat has been done twice before...once in the 1950s and once in the 60s...don't believe everything you read on wikipedia

UIL said it was a first for girls.
Surely they couldn't make a mistake!
(he said knowingly)
What's a wikipedia?

One was a man in the 70s...and I thought there was a woman that had done it before...but maybe remembering wrong

again...a great feat but there have been much better women athletes from six-man schools...Richardson just has better press agents...how many state track meet records did she set in EVENTS...zero...and before someone (dogface) gives her points per game in basketball to compare to Atkins...Rochelle was not playing anywhere close to the type of teams Loraine was in the late 80s and early 90s

Ok they were both men who singlehandedly won a state track team title...James Segrest (Class 2A Bangs in 1954) and Frank Pollard (Class B Meridian in 1976)

Dang, missed out on my post on all of this. Micah played in the TSMCA all star game the summer after she graduated. Her coach Roddy Shipman (from Guthrie) put all his studs to start game and it was like 37-1 at the end of their session. The girl guarding Micah was pinching, poking, and all kinds of stuff and Micah went to her bench and told her coach if the young lady did not quit she was going to lose some teeth. The foolishness stopped. Ha

Bonnie went to A&M. Her freshman year she was third in Big 12 in multi-events, she fell out with jumps coach and quit the squad and ran "club" track. She was second in javelin in big 12 (only event she did). Not sure about this year.

A girl from Priddy high jumped over 6 feet to win Class A, the year they won state in basketball or year before.
