Sixman trivia

In 1940 it was the same temas but with Tuscola winning the district (district 20).

OBK...I think you are getting confused with the 1939 season...it was that year that Elmdale looked into playing in a non-uil district with teams from that area but never formed a team, and 2 preseaon articles were written about them playing, one even listing them in a schedule...but they never played a game....in fact I am 100% sure you are confused and are thinking about 1939...here are some articles:

Abilene Reporter News, Tuesday Morning, 9-26-39, page 6..."Elmdale Organizes 6-man Football"

ARN, Wed. Morning, 9-27-39, page 2..."County 6-Man Loop to Open Season Oct. 6"...teams listed in this article with a schedule for the league are: Ovalo, Lawn, Elmdale, Tuscola, Wylie, and ACC Academy.

ARN, Sat. Morn., 10-7-39, page 3..."Lawn Winner in Six-Man Inaugural"...article details Lawn's 19-0 win and says a crowd of 500 was at the game.

ARN, Fri. Morn., 10-13-39, page 3...article about the Taylor Co. 6man league's games for the week including Ovalo @ Tuscola and ACCA @ Wylie, and Lawn @ Eula...so Eula joined the league before the season began apparently.

ARN, Sat. Morn., 10-14-39, page 2..."Ovalo Six Tags Tuscola, 22-6"...article recaps the Ovalo game and gives the district standings: Lawn 2-0, Ovalo 1-0, ACC 1-0, Tuscola 1-1, Eula 0-1, Bradshaw 0-1, Wylie 0-2. This proves that Eula entered into the league and Elmdale never was in the league.

ARN, Sat. Morn., 11-25-39, page 2..."Ovalo Takes County 6-man Football Title"...Ovalo beats Tuscola 38-20 for the title in a night game at Hardin-Simmons....a few weeks later the ARN published the Ovalo team photo.

You're right....It was 1939

I sure hope someone is scrap booking this stuff. It will be good material for when 6 man goes pro. ESPN will love it, hahah

If you lay out in the field of dreams long enough, the crows are bound to get you. I personally refuse to let them have me.

Yes. San Antonio has its own 9 team league. Also, there was the Texas Sixman Football League (TSFL). I believe it fell through and I'm not sure why.

However, no one has ever thought about starting it where it originated. For to long the sons of 6 man have sat in the dark. Yeap I said it "Sons of 6 Man". I'll donate that one to Granger as a catch phrase.

Everywhere I go and talk about the league, they get estatic, you see a light come on that wasn't there before. It just takes one individual from each community to organize things.

enough of my soap box. haha

You are correct and If its the same one I am thinking they have since moved to 11 Man.

You can find an old post about them on the Loan Star Boared. Where they wanted to play TX best against FL best.

I believe one of the elders in our merry group here lead me to it:)

Out of 6 games, I only know of 2 rolled ankles, 1 browken pinky and 1 concussion. If I had to speculate the concussion came from a poorly fitted helmet.

There were all the bumps, bruises and scrapes you can think of.

From a bunch of young geezers,
I'd say that qualifies as
surprisingly few!
