Q:
The 03 state game set a record (for that time) for combined point's scored. Who was the leading rusher, how many yard's? Second leading rusher?

This is one of the few games I do not have stats for...I will guess at the players...no clue on the yards...
1. Jeremy Parsons, Strawn. 2. Clifton Baker, Strawn

(what source are you using for yardage?)

Articles from the Mineral Wells Index, Stephenville Empire Tribune and (on line) Odessa American.
1. Justin Cormack, principals son (concussion at end of semi week before), 8 - 161.
2. Jeremy Parsons, 6 - 141 one paper 139 another. 3. Clifton Baker 14 - 117 or 119.
QB Derek Hinkson 13/22 0/0 257.

Totals S - 665/668, FD - 456, 1120 yds plus in 40 min combined.
99 point's in 2nd 1/2 total, 57 of those in 4th. Last score with 11 seconds left by FD, S recovered the onside kick to win by 5, 67-62.

Can mail you copies. I have no scanner.

Thanks 51eleven! I knew I was close...wasn"t sure...and I went to that game. Did you know it was reported in the New York Time I believe that that game was the highest attendance for a six-man game up to that time...6100 or so I think...but don't tell people from Gordon that!!! Na...all joking aside I think the '96 state game had more people at it than the 03 game...but one of the state games at Abilene had the most that I have ever seen...not sure on the year

Nope...you can find out who coached Paint Creek in the 1950s at lonestarfootball and then google his name, given name not nickname, then you can find out which pro team and college team he played for.

Well Cowboy has answered 1 of the 3 questions correctly!

J C O'Neal, there are variations on the spelling in newspapers of the time, his nickname was Chief, he died in a car wreck a good while back.

I was told he could with a closed fist, hold a a bottle cap with his thumb on top of his fist and rolling it on top of the closed fist with his thumb roll up the bottle cap

Nope OBK...hate to tell you you are wrong...but you are!

You are using newspaper articles from the preseaon in 1941, Elmdale expressed some interest in forming a team but never did...and ACA was playing six-man football but not a part of the district or league.

Correct answer is: Trent who were district champs, Ovalo, Tuscola, Wylie, Eula, Bradshaw, and Lawn

to prove I am right, here are 4 newspaper articles you can look up:

Abilene Reporter News, Sunday Morning, 9-7-41, page 11...Coaches meet at Taylor County courthouse to draft a schedule...listing those 7 teams and there coaches with a schedule of games.

ARN, Sun. Morning, 10-19-41, page 13..."Three Lead 6-Man Race"...lists the complete district standings to that point Trent 2-0, Tuscola 2-0, Lawn 2-0, Wylie 2-2, Bradshaw1-2, Eula 0-2, Ovalo 0-3

ARN, Sat. Morning, 11-15-1941, page 2..."Trent Clinches Six-Man Title"...saying they were in district 8 (other articles said district 5).

ARN, Sun. Morning, 11-23-41, page 11...Team picture of the Trent Gorillas caption "Meet the members of the Trent high school football team, champions of the Taylor county six-man league. Undefeated and untied..."
