Seguin vs. Castle

OK- I'm picking Seguin 58-44. I think they will make the necessary adjustments to somewhat contain #5. I like the team of Seguin over #5.

Hey pup, were you intentionally trying to insult the entire team or was that by accident? I can't tell if you are trying to be insulting or you just don't have a clue about football. Either way I believe you owe the entire CHFBS football team an apology. Football is a team game. No one makes it to a State Semifinal game by themselves.

Your post is certainly a cheap shots at a bunch of 14 -18 year old young men who have worked hard all year as a team.

Settle down, boys.

The posts I pull are where somebody "calls out" a specific young man ... us old men have no bidness picking on high school boys.

But perhaps pup has it right. If Lifegate can't stop #5, it may be a long ... or short ... night. If they can contain him, it has the makings of one heck of a game ... because Lifegate did have Castle Hills' number for at least the first half of their initial meeting.

That's why we'll both play the game tonight. Scratch that. I'm in the "old man" category. Some pretty motivated young men on both sides will play the game tonight.

Game will be broadcast on Seguin Radio KWED 1580 AM; http://www.seguintoday.com. Pregame at 5:20, kickoff around 6:00 pm. (I'd be online a few minutes early, games don't seem to start at exact times....)

Let me be the first to say that sometimes one player can and does make the difference. Dante Johnson is #5. He is one of the best players to put on the pads in sixman football (in my opinion). I think that if Lifegate is to beat Castle Hills they will need to score a ton of points. Maybe 70 plus. I see Dante scoring multiple touchdowns maybe 6 or more. It is not a slam on Lifegate, it's just that Dante is one of those players that come along once in a lifetime. He will be a force on the defense as well. Dante does has plenty of help though. Ethan Leos is an excellent player as well. I can see him having a big game if Lifegate puts all their emphasis on stopping Dante. I think this is gonna be an excellent game. Looking forward to being there tonight.

Dante is incredible... And Leos is a great player as well.. Both of them have the ability to make plays out of nothing at any time..

I remember talking with the other lifegate coaches a few years ago when we were about to play brenham.. We had Austin Swick, Matt Akin, Caleb Tate, Brendan Gravett, and Tyler Swisher all on the same team... One of the coaches exact words were "we have four or five great players... They have six really good ones.. Three of them can start on any team in TAPPS..."

Brenham did what they had to on defense to stop our TD monsters while attacking our weakness on defense... Which wasn't even really a weakness.. It was where their mismatch was.. I think our best players were better than theirs... But their worst players were much more experienced and aggressive than ours..

I think this will be a great game... But I think Lifegate pulls it out.. Their second half football has greatly improved since Freddy and castle... Congrats on both programs making it this far.. You've earned every extra quarter of playing time

I don't think it's a slam to the team saying #5 is the one to stop, it's true. It's just that #5 is just that good honestly.

Nobody's done it this year. "Contain" would be the goal if you plan to win.

While all here know my long-time loyalties to the Lifegate program, I really was impressed by Castle Hills' ability to come back from multiple touchdown deficits against both Freddy and Lifegate. Now, it's going to be interesting if they can repeat that effort again this week ... and again next week, if two flocks of Eagles end up playing in Zephyr.

Like I said elsewhere, Coach Criner and his staff obviously weren't sleeping in class when Professors Rabon and Shipman were lecturing ...

So I was off a bit on the score.....and the winning school! It was a good game and both schools had their chances to put it away. I still stand by my words that #5 is the team. What did he score, 9 or their 10 touchdowns, probably 95% of their offensive yards went through him, kicker, and pressure man on defense. He did play well and has a big time stiff arm. But did you notice that when #5 was not in the game, Seguin would move the ball and score? Hmmmmm..... I was impressed with #8 at safety. He came up fast and didn't mind hitting.

All in all, Castle has to be considered the favorite going into State, whoever they play. Monday evening will tell. Seguin, a great season. I want to know what you feed those boys to make them so quick and tenacious on defense.

One last thing, then I'll be quiet. How about the unbelieveably biased announcer from Castle? Holy Cow!!!! I was just there as a fan of sixman football but that guy was WAY over the top. I saw several Castle fans role their eyes at his comments. I can only imagine what the Seguin fans were thinking. Ok, done "bashing" Castle.

Fortunately, the speakers on the visitors side at Boerne don't work, so most of us didn't hear him. From what I heard, he was better this time than he was at the regular season game; at least this time, somebody thought to pray before the game. I doubt if the guy took any time to read the TAPPS direction concerning game announcers. But if h-e-double-hockey-sticks was reserved for biased announcers at high school games, he'd have lots of company in the afterlife.

Heck, the only time this year I heard a pre-game sportsmanship announcement (recommended by TAPPS, by the way) was when Coach Satcher said one at Buckholts before the game against Heath Fulton.
