District Champions

they will have the same problem in district 1 if Happy loses to Nazareth on friday, because then Happy, Nazareth and Springlake Earth would have a 3-way tie and they would've all beaten each other

I expect their rules are written a little better than these. If not, I expect there to be a district meeting before the game this week to get it all straightened out so there's no confusion after the games are played, especially after seeing how all of this is playing out in district 6.

thank u for clarifying this

Based on what I was told:

Assuming both Newcastle and Perrin wins this week, then the district will go old school. They will meet Saturday to flip a coin over which 2 interpretations of the rule to go with. (Leman's option B or C.)

Knox City wins, thay are the 1st seed and Newcastle is 2nd. Perrin wins, Newcastle is 1st and Perrin 2nd.

Based on the coin flip:
Knox City is either 1st or out.
Perrin is 2nd or out
Newcastle is in either way but could be 1st or 2nd.

What a mess. Hopefully the district will rewrite the tie-breaker rule to be clearer for next year.

I'm confused, how would Newcastle be in either way? Knox City beat them head to head, so wouldnt they be in the same boat as the other two?

hopefully they do this proposed coin toss right! 3 teams, 3 coins, Odd man out! that way no one is just HANDED a playoff spot

From my understanding, they're actually flipping the coin to determine which rule they're going to follow, not necessarily which teams go to the playoffs. So the two different rules that were written include both scenarios that @SmartCoach posted.

still not sure how newcastle would be in either way, as if the rules dont apply to them

Because the first rule states that both playoff teams are chosen by point differential (Newcastle and Knox), then their seeding is chosen by their head to head against each other (KC beat Newcastle so they're #1).

The second rule says that the #1 seed is chosen by point differential (Newcastle), then the #2 seed is chosen by head to head matchup between the other two teams (PW beat KC so they're #2).

Will Panther Creek forfeit their last game to second place Rochelle? Or play it? They have forfeited all of their other District games.

And speaking of forfeits, with Calvert about to head into the playoffs and forfeiting their last regular season game, will they even field a team for their playoff game? That probably won’t sit well with RS not getting to play!

That would be crazy forfeiting a playoff game!
