That’s exactly my understanding. When to hear something official.I'm waiting to hear from one of their broadcasters, @6manfanNate, but I'm under the assumption that Newcastle is #1 and Knox City is #2, assuming Bryson doesn't upset Newcastle next week.
Jonesboro (or May) vs Gordon should be a really good 1st round game. This is how I think the districts end up.
Wow this one surprised me. That being said there is a possibility Hermleigh beats Westbrook next week.ira just beat hermleigh. That will probably put them second behind Westbrook if things play out like I think they will.
Also, Perrin-Witt does not get upset by Northside. The Knox City announcer said for what he understood, Knox City coud lose by less than 12 and still be in the playoffs. That leads me to believe the points cap is 22. With 22 as the cap Newcastle is 20, and assuming Knox City lost by 12 they would be at -10 and Perrin-Witt also -10 making Newcastle number 1 and Knox City and Perrin-Witt tied for 2nd and Since Perrin-Witt won the head-to-head they would advance as second. With 22 as the cap as of now, with the actual scores Newcastle 20, Knox city-4 and Perrin-Witt -16.That’s exactly my understanding. When to hear something official.
From my understanding the rules in this district have confusing verbiage, which is what's causing the issue. As of now, both teams have a different understanding of how the tie-breaker rules are read. From what I'm being told, the district committees and/or superintendents will have to have a meeting to determine where it goes from here. Also, Perrin-Witt does not get upset by Northside. Both Newcastle and Perrin-Witt have 1 more game remaining.
I was speculating and anyway both Newcastle and Perrin-Witt have to win for there to be a tie. The 24-point tiebreaker was in D2 District 6 between Blackwell, Bronte, and Loraine. As I understand it, Loraine is a lock for second regardless of the outcome of Blackwell vs Trent.I dont think there is anything confusing about it
The D1 District 6 Rules I was sent says three way ties take in games only involving the three teams and uses cumulative points with a 24 point cap. Just like the rules I posted a week ago in another thread
So it stands
Newcastle 77 Perrin-W 36
Knox City 50 Newcastle 48
Perrin-W 48 Knox City 42:
1. Newcastle +22 (+24-2)
2. Knox City -4 (+2-6)
3. Perrin -18 (-24+6)
Knox City is open, Newcastle plays Bryson and Perrin plays Northside. If Newcastle loses and Perrin wins then Perrin is district champs and Knox City is runner up (head to head game)
Perrin needed to beat Knox City by 14 to jump them and be in 2nd
Yes. It is a very common tie-breaker system that Im sure many districts have...how ironic that both District 6s have to use it in a three way this year. The 24-point tiebreaker was in D2 District 6 between Blackwell, Bronte, and Loraine. As I understand it, Loraine is a lock for second regardless of teh outcome of Blackwell vs Trent.
There is a possibility but it is very small I would say about 5%. What will be interesting is how water valley will do against ira in the first round.Wow this one surprised me. That being said there is a possibility Hermleigh beats Westbrook next week.
I think May has the slight edge with home field advantage. I would go may by 6. I mean whoever loses next week has Gordon first round. And it looks like the same this year May vs Jonesboro last game of the season
Was Hermleigh missing some kids last night? Or was Ira missing some kids when they played Loraine earlier in the season? That's what has me scratching my head. Seeing how Hermleigh 45ed Loraine, and Ira got beat by Loraine. Regardless that's part of the game. Looking forward to a WV and Ira matchup. There is a possibility but it is very small I would say about 5%. What will be interesting is how water valley will do against ira in the first round.
No hermleigh was all there from my understanding. They just couldn’t shut down ira’s run game and according to some hermleigh fans they couldn’t get a holding call to save their life. This is just a old school rivalry game and both teams showed up with that spirit. Was Hermleigh missing some kids last night? That should be fuel enough for both May and Jonesboro. Obviously the district championship but that first round game is huge.I think May has the slight edge with home field advantage. I would go may by 6. I mean whoever loses next week has Gordon first round.
This is how I understand it, but I guess we will wait and see what happens with this meeting they are going to have.I dont think there is anything confusing about it
