BCS=BS

Another things is that UT should have had intercepted that ball at the end of the game against TTU and they wouldn't be in the position they are right now hoping that voters remember the 45-35.. against OU earlier in the season... Another thing is that UT didn't play well during that game,,, that is because they weren't concentrating they were thinking that they were unbeatable just for the cause they had beaten OU, MIZZOU, and OKST but then came the TTU game and they just felt that i was going to be an easy game but found out that it wasn't and lost the game by doing so..

Could have, should have, would have........give me a break. How bout when the refs picked up the flag on not one, but 2 blocks to the back on a Texas punt return for a TD? Bottom line.....they got beat!

Mississippi IS NOW ranked... and deservedly so!! They are a good team... SEC powerhouse?? maybe not.... However LSU is now NOT ranked and also SHOULD have beat Alabama... so either one way or the other, you can't have it both ways here.

So, are you saying that Alabama should be punished for a close win against LSU? I don't understand the point that you're trying to make. Every BIG XII team has lost a game and you want to punish Alabama for a close win over a perennial powerhouse. The argument doesn't hold water.

you come off looking like the ultimate SEC homer by saying that Alabama is an undefeated SEC team and that is enough... lol.

I'm not an SEC homer, but I am open minded. I think there are 5 teams that are in the argument for best in the country. They are: Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, and USC. I don't know who is the best, but Alabama has done the best job in proving they belong in the championship game.

Are you honestly implying that going through the SEC undefeated is not enough to put you in the National Championship? Is this your first year watching football? If you don't think that the undefeated SEC Champion doesn't deserve to play for the National Title then you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

I am not a Big 12 homer.... just think they are a bit better than the SEC this year

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I think they're really close. I think I'd give the nod to the BIG XII on the top end but the SEC has more depth.

You tell me to not look at LSU because LSU isn't in the discussion, but then in the same quote bring up a team from 2006????? Dont look at 2006.... 2006 isn't in the discussion.lol

You said that SEC defenses only look good because BIG XII offenses are weak. I just stated some facts that show that an SEC defense is capable of shutting down the most prolific offense in college football.

The 2006 Alabama team is in the discussion because there are players currently on the roster that helped dismantle that Tech team.

You are right!! Why would I choose to make your case for you? Is that what debating is all about? I am trying to state my case that the Big 12 is a better conference this year.

No, that's not what debating is about. You may be able to sneak half-truths by some people, but I'm smarter than you are. That's why I can state facts and you're left grasping at straws. You're out of your league, kid. Maybe you should try your games with someone your age.

OK I'll chime in. Most of you know I'm a Sooner (don't get too uptight). If Texas would have gotten the nod, I would have been fine with it, only because OU did not take care of business. Would OU still have a good arguement? Absolutely. Here is what I believe the Big 12 needs to consider: Put the top two B12 teams in the championship game, regardless of division. This year, there would still be somewhat of an arguement, because of the 3-way tie. BCS rankings must come into play at some point though, because the Big 12 obviously wants one of their teams to be in the NC game. So, UT vs. OU in the Big 12 championship. They both would have an opportunity to put themselves in position for the NC game. Problem solved!

i got this off of espn:
1. alabama #88 in strength of schedule
2. oklahoma #1 in SOS
3. Texas #5 in SOS
4. florida #56 in SOS

whats funny is an undefeated Utah has a #60 SOS. How does that seem fair? florida plays an easier schedule, have the same record as Texas and still be ranked ahead of them? doesn't make sense to me! alabama #88 in strength of schedule? how are they ahead of Utah? its all a bunch of crap to me. i am tired of every year somebody gets jobbed, something needs to change, how long are we going to swallow what the bcs is giving us? nothing will change until we turn off our tv sets and quit going to the games, but i know that isn't going to happen, but this is what needs to happen.

Nah, I am not saying that they should be punished for a close win, I am saying that the sec is down and Alabama, (despite their tough sec schedule which puts them 88th in the SOS) IS OVERRATED!... Florida should beat the dog out of them. Dont believe the hype on every single undefeated team. And I am not drinking the SEC koolaid this year. Year in and year out, I agree they can be argued as the toughest conference. I just dont believe they are this year. And I do not believe Bama should be punished for their squeaker against LSU, (or Miss, or Kentucky). They need to lose before they get dropped, Im just saying I dont believe they are that good. Maybe they are..... That remains to be seen. I do think Nick Saban is one hell of a coach to get them through the season they are having. I just think there is one SEC school that is better, and at least 3, possibly 4 better big 12 schools. That is all.

I'm not an SEC homer, but I am open minded. I think there are 5 teams that are in the argument for best in the country. They are: Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, and USC. I don't know who is the best, but Alabama has done the best job in proving they belong in the championship game.

Duly noted. Cant argue this. I would throw Tech in there possibly if Bama is in there, because I think they are both kind of pretenders..... and I hate USC, but you may be right... maybe they should be considered as well, although you can't argue that the WAC 10 (as I like to call it now) is way down this year... way further than the SEC.
And no... this is not my first year to watch football, but I do believe this is the first year that I have felt that the Big 12 was a bit better top to bottom than the SEC. Change happens.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I think they're really close. I think I'd give the nod to the BIG XII on the top end but the SEC has more depth.
Once again.... sounds good to me.... I disagree slightly, but ...... semantics.....

Not sure at all what you are talking about here.... I never said the BIG 12 offenses are weak.... LOL.... This was something you pulled out of thin air. And give me a few names of the players that dismantled Tech that are still there from 2006. I have no idea.... You could be right... but you can't just say that it is pretty much the same team without backing it up. I mean, you think Texas of 2007 was the same team as Texas of 2005??? They had some of the same players on that team that beat OSU and SC. Come on man, who's pulling at straws here????

No, that's not what debating is about. You may be able to sneak half-truths by some people, but I'm smarter than you are. That's why I can state facts and you're left grasping at straws. You're out of your league, kid. Maybe you should try your games with someone your age.

Oooooooo once again.... getting a bit personal with your attacks... lol.... I am being sneaky huh? lol. Out of my league? I believe I have taken every quote you made and replied to them... you are the one taking snippits of what you think you can argue with me about.

And by the way son, I will put my education up against yours any day of the week and twice on Sundays. You definitely do not want to open up this can. Let's see if we can be civil and keep this debate on the up and up. I will give credit where credit is due. I believe I have said that I could be wrong a few times in my previous posts. There is no reason to get all mean mouthed here. For a guy who says he is "open minded" it seems that you don't give a lot of ground to opinions other than your own.

I still think the best solution would have been a three-way coin flip at some diner near the Oklahoma-Texas border. They all throw their coins in the air and Mack can't find his and dives underneath a booth looking for it... TV cameras all over the place. The parking lot would have been full of trucks. No NY tv announcers allowed (or Barry Switzer for that matter--good work Fox)...

BTW, article in the Statesman about the guy in charge of the BCS at the NCAA. Goes on and on, then you get to the end and he's an OU grad... hmmm

Granger, I still want to know who Billy Bob Thornton is going to play in the movie.

Yeah, that was a typo. You said that SEC defenses only look good because SEC offenses are so bad. I proved you wrong by giving you the stats of an SEC defense against the best offense in college football.

And give me a few names of the players that dismantled Tech that are still there from 2006. I have no idea.... You could be right... but you can't just say that it is pretty much the same team without backing it up.

Bobby Greenwood (DL) and Rashad Johnson (DB) each started and recorded tackles against Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl. I'm sure that there were other underclassmen in the 2-deep, but I don't feel like spending that much time.

Also, nowhere did I say that this Alabama teamis pretty much the same as the team from 3 seasons ago. I said that there are players still on the roster who took part in the dismantling of the Red Raiders.

Big difference.

Oooooooo once again.... getting a bit personal with your attacks... lol.... I am being sneaky huh? lol. Out of my league? I believe I have taken every quote you made and replied to them... you are the one taking snippits of what you think you can argue with me about.

What do you call intentionally omitting key pieces of information? You can't pick and choose which information is relevant. Give me all of the information and let me decide if it is relevant. Intelligent adults don't debate like you, children do. That's why you're out of your league. Your style would work much better with my 7 year old.

And by the way son, I will put my education up against yours any day of the week and twice on Sundays. You definitely do not want to open up this can.

Wow. So, you are actually an adult? I honestly thought you were a teenager. Sorry.

What does it say about your education that I can wade through your posts and think that I was reading the thoughts of a 13 year old boy?

I'd love to open up the can. Tell me about your education. How many years of elementary school were you able to manage? It's been a while since I've heard a good sob story.

This discussion has reached a new low.

------------------------------------------------------------

The Big 12 is the villain in this scenario. They needed to put thought into a real tiebreaker that makes sense versus allowing a flawed BCS system to decide.

No reason to complain that Alabama doesn't deserve the #1 ranking. They have it and they didn't lose to anyone this year. Add that to the traditional voting preferences and Utah doesn't have a chance to break into the "big boys" club.

Folks - it's just a game.

Old Dad is right... new low.... I will take the high road.... As I part... just to let you know, I never questioned your intelligence.... Just disagreed with you about a few aspects of football.... To me, it seems childish to continue with this "who is smarter" debate. You are the one that came out and stated that you were smarter than me without ever knowing one thing about me other than my thoughts on the Big 12 vs SEC this year. And I can't help it that you thought you were talking to a 13 year old boy.... I can say that reading your posts, I thought I was talking to a 6 year old girl. But that is irrelevant. Who cares. Don't get so fired up about these things, and make them so personal, son. You will be a happier man for it. When you want to talk football again, I'll be around. Let me know. Oh yeah... sure I know you want to hear it Mr. Openmindedness...... you win the internet argument......

You're exactly right. I am sorry. There was no need for the intelligence insults.

I sincerely apologize.

Let's just talk football.

UT hires Lane Kiffen....good or bad?

I think he is a great pick up for Tenn... I like the guy... I think he will be more suited to the collegiate program. He has experience with one of the best current coaches in college when he was at SC. I think he will be energetic and will be able to recruit well in the south, and will have lots of pull back in California which produces some of the best high school talent in the States.

Can we give Tech to New Mexico????????

OU's going so boomer sooner I guess.....unless .......the ghost of Chase Daniels shows up with a certain bleach blonde hair-do and goes South Lake Carroll fighting DRAGON style on that @ss! A Mizzou win and a Florida win gives us all a merry merry christmas, and a hell of a national title game

Even though I am an Aggie Fan through and through, I think t.u. deserves the shot at the NC game since they did beat zero-U in a straight up fight.

Even if that doesn't happen, I'm going to be cheering for all of the Big 12 teams in the bowl games.

And praying that Santa brings A&M an offensive and defensive line for Christmas!
