was told High Island is still debating playing 6man but did turn in they would be playing 11man. Was explained to me schools opting to play up have until Feb to make that final decision...but I have not confirmed that that is true with the UIL

Valentine is listed playing 1A D2 six-man with a snapshot of 8...but I was laughed at when I called the school to confirm they might play or not so...

They are counted in the 76 D2 schools so assuming that 8 was factored into the split...a few schools are at 60 so wonder if that would have made any difference!

I believe that the cut off number has more to do with the number of schools in each division and not the median number for enrollment.

1A Division I: 59.5 – 104.9 77 schools

1A Division II: 59.4 and below 76 schools

So, if you remove Valentine, there is only 75 schools in Division II with 3 schools at 60 in Division 1, moving the cut off to 60 and below would not really balance the Division. There would then be 74 schools in Division I and 78 schools in Division II.

Yes...remove Valentine, Harrold, Lohn and Paint Creek...4 schools who havnt fielded a team in a while, then 60.5 would have been it bc 3 schools are at 60 right?

The UIL should exempt schools who havn't fielded a team of any kind in a year or two from deciding the split IMHO.

Could Hamlin have chosen to play sixman? Their enrollment is at 105, yet they made it to the 2A Division DII State Games! While I think they were one kid short of being able to play sixman, that is some crazyyyy stuff either way!

D 1 has 77 schools. That works out to 13 districts having five teams. Would the UIL, in their great wisdom, put six teams in any district for travel purposes?

The UIL will more than likely go to 4 team districts with a few 5 teams thrown in to get to 16 districts- 4 in each region.

No not this new elignment coming up bc 105 is over the 104.9 cut off, so they are in 2A in everything.

The previous number was 96 I think so they were in 1A the last 2 years and yes could have played 6man the last two season (2018, 2019).

If all 77 field teams, then 13 5 team districts would be likely. Unless there are some 6 team districts, the number of 4 team districts would be low.

That's so cool they almost won the 2A State Title! The 2019 Hamlin Pied Pipers might make a good movie.

Tomorrow’s the big day! Will district 1 be in the panhandle or way out west? Will districts be bigger? Will many schedules be filled? Will anyone post in this topic or will it be all on the main board? Will Zephyr and Jonesboro be in separate districts???????
