This is why is why i hate divisions

What would you say/do when the UIL increases the number of the split. What if they move from 104.5 to 109.5 or more? Would that not increase the cutoff/ numbers for D2. What happens when the increases enough where D2 schools "can't" compete with other D2 schools? Would you consider a D3 at that point?
I will love 6man football no matter what UIL changes, unless they make it flag football—then im out!! Lol

I don’t think, opinion, that it will ever go above 110. The split between D1 and D2 might move up, maybe 65. This would be great with me. I’m not in favor of a school with 40 kids, 20-25 boys, playing a school with 100 kids, 50-55 boys, in district and playoffs. My opinion and I don’t think I will change. If the UIL wants to add another weekend and play “all classes” D1 against D2 for State Championship, I will be for it.

So, you probably also think that the 2A winner should have to play the 6A winner to see who has the best team? I mean after all, they each put eleven players on the field, and they all put their pants on one leg at a time! ??

Your idea would be about as bad as the 1A winner having to play the 6A winner using their own rules. I don’t think anyone seriously believes what you are saying. You are the one that came up with that. You are just trying to stir, stir, stir.

Northside did have some kids banged up, and played a terrible game but, yeah, losing that game when Richland Springs beat them something like 50-0 told me that there was a clear difference in the divisions, at least back then. I do think that gap is a lot closer right now, especially at the top, but the DI schools are still overall better than the DII schools.
Not sure what team the kid played for or many details, but it was during this Championship game at Shotwell that I seen the hardest hit I personally have ever seen in 6-man football. It was and open field play full speed so it was either a kick return, or int return, etc. anyway the kid was in process of nice run with full out speed when all the sudden he literally got decleated, feet went up in air and head and shoulders the opposite direction. The entire stadium in perfect rhythm let out that oooooowwwww sound. Thought the kids game was over for sure but he jumped up and carried on, he was seeing stars no doubt but tough as a nail to take that hit. Help me out here someone has to remember this happening about midfield and maybe who it was.

Realized the game I’m referring to isn’t clear. Northside/Jayton championship in Abilene 2006.

What if they drop it back to about 95 like it should be?
What if they just went back to no divisions and one TRUE STATE CHAMPION?? Then this would be real.
And I hate to break the news to all of you young folks but there are several teams from the 70’s and early 80’s that would mop the floor with any team you want to bring up. Just saying been there and seen both sides old and new.

I believe you're probably talking about Corey Sampson, Northside's #20. He was one of three brothers who were on that state team. He was definitely one of the toughest guys to ever play at Northside.

I wish...

Jayton’s Will Woodward #18 laid that hit vs Northside - one tough kid.

I’ve got the pic somewhere of the chalk in the air around the two of them. Knocked them both to the ground.

Training equipment, technology, dieting and supplements, etc. have all came a long way since the 70’s and early 80’s. I have no idea but would speculate that very few track and field records set during that time exist today. Some sure but not many at any level. Kids are stronger, faster, the tools available are just far superior to that era. With that said I kinda doubt teams from that era would be mopping anything. Just my opinion and acknowledge you may be correct and there will probably be people backing both sides of this. Not trying to start another pissing contest but just a different perspective.

Certainly have some good points about improvement in training equipment, technology, dieting(less beer) and supplements but nothing takes the place of great effort and natural ability. I believe that all the great teams of the 1960's and 1970's could compete even dominate what we see on the fields today. All the emphasis on offense with little emphasis on playing defense detracts from the game as a whole. I will not bother with checking on the 100 meter dash times of the Gordon players but I'm sure none of them were as fast as Cherokee's Charlie Gray. There are many other great sixman football players never mentioned on this website simply because they played before all the attention was focused on our sport.
