The Best Six-Man Rivalries

Here's a new one for ya

Fannindel has been 6 man for a few years but Savoy just came down. They are the only 2 6-man teams in Fannin Co. This year they started the "Wild Hog Bowl" which is for the 6 man bragging rights in Fannin Co. They got a plaque and the score gets put on there and the winner gets to have the plaque in their trophy case for that year. This year Savoy won 22-0 in a mudfest. It had been raining for 2 days. You could not tell what color the jerseys were. It was a fitting inaugural game for the Wild Hog Bowl.

Strawn vs Gordon, no comparsion. Only 8 miles apart and the football chatter never stops. Two of the top programs in six man football and they tee it up ever year.

Strawn/Gordon. I've seen the Highland/Blackwell and Trinidad/Milford firsthand ain the past and they are also great rivalry games, but Strawn/Gordon from the amount of fans drawn to the respect the overall sixman community has for the two programs tops the others. I have a friend on the Mineral Wells school board and he swears that the 2008 quarterfinal rematch between those two still is the most folks that have attended a high school game in that stadium.

Richland Springs and Cherokee has had a rivalry going back several decades. Seems to have diminished somewhat recently but that may be renewed as Cherokee experiences more success. RS was still 11 man when Cherokee was in it's heyday and making long playoff runs so the rivalry kind of died down (on the football field at least). Being in the same county makes for great rivalries.....................................................
