I was under the impression
that it was just a natural term
given to it in the beginning?
stemming from Granger explaining
(or in my case attempting to explain cuz I still don't get it)
how he was playing around with
a developing ranking system.

There is also fajitapete's ranking system
which had several names suggested for it
so that we could talk about it (make fun of it, cuss it, etc)
without getting it confused with Granger's toy,
and then a vote was taken for it's name.

Do i get a prize?

Now i have a question.
A very long time ago,One could buy
peanuts in a tube similar to b.b.'s that had
money in some of them 5 cents,1 cent,if u were lucky there was
25 cents in the peanuts..
Correct? I have googled and googled and cant find this,
but my old mind says yes there was such a thing?
Any one??

You are correct. I believe the primary color was red, but I can't remember the name. People (including me) used to grip them by the ends of the tube and shake them thinking if there was money inside they wouldn't shake very much. They cost a nickel and I ate a lot of them, but never found any money inside.

I found this (part of a reply) on a Leon Hale blog in the Houston Chronicle regarding "tootsie rolls"
"Another I remember quite well was a small tube of red-skin peanuts. There was a chance that you would get a coin inside along with the peanuts. My Mom would not allow us to buy those because she said it was too much like gambling. When we were with Dad, he would allow us to buy a tube once in a while since we did get some peanuts, although it was a small serving. I remember that I got a fifty-cent piece in a tube once. If my Mother would have known about that big pay-out, she would have been very concerned that I had “started down the long evil road of gambling”."

Quote from Dogface: "The fishing for compliments is lame."

I believe sir you had better do some research and maybe meet some people before you make judgements on their motives and reasons for doing things. I have been posting on these boards for many years - know a lot of these guys - I speak to them, they know me and they know my reasons for posting things I do.

I do not need to fish for anything. It appears my post may have hooked an insecure know it all wanna be. When I need to fish for something everyone will know it. When I need someone to tell me what my motives are I will ask.

Maybe after you have been on the board for more than a few months you will be knowledgable enough to make judgements. Well, probably not.

Sorry guys - didn't mean to fire up a controversy in my first 2 or 3 days back. This is reminiscent of the 123Ranger days ....

GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ !! Again ...

Having just returned from Colorado where the high temperature for the week was 75.
Anyway, I was catching trout and for trout I was using the plain old red worm and I was knocking them dead.

so if I was going to try to fishing for compliments, what bait would I use and since I turned the ankle on Monday is that lame enough.

Just so that I keep this post qualifying for this board, it's 4th and long, should I punt?
