Schools That Switched to Six-Man

Leman Saunders

Six-man expert
I was wonderinng about this...since 1994 how many schools that are playing six-man now made the switch over from 11-man...and what year did they do it? Anyone got a complete list??? OBK???

11-man Schools who have made the move to 6-man since 1996 (year of the move to 6-man)(1994 was the year the enrollment number for 6-man schools moved downfrom 95 to 80 or 85 I think..HPD may know better than I...1993 was last year a lot of six-man teams played UIL 6-man like Christoval and Ft Hancock)

Yo-Yo Teams (back and forth from 6-man to 11-man since 1994): Abbott, Blum, Groom, May, Meadow, (Wheeler 11-man-6-man-11man).
I may be missing a few of these yo-yo teams

Ok...I compiled every one of those schools win/loss record since the moved to six-man...of the 44 schools (counting Wheeler but not the other yo-yo schools)...

Only 16 have posted a losing record in UIL competition:
Campbell 2-8 (1 season)
Chester 10-19 (3 seasons)
Eden 17-52 (7 seasons)
Evant 13-17 (3 seasons)
Fannindel 41-46 (9 seasons)
Hart 20-29 (5 seasons)
Karnack 5-23 (3 seasons)
Kopperl 58-71 (13 seasons)
Lorenzo 30-43 (7 seasons)
Marfa 4-6 (1 season)
Nazareth 3-7 (1 season)
O'Donnell 19-31 (5 seasons)
Rising Star 39-52 (1 season)
Rotan 2-9 (1 season)
Spur 55-59 (11 seasons)
Whiteface 23-46 (7 seasons)

Overall this group is 341-518 (68 seasons), giving them a winning percentage of .396

Now if someone wants to take all these teams 4 previous seasons (about the average this group has been in 6-man) before moving to 6-man and add it all up and do the same thing...I wonder if their win percentage would go up or down???? (hint here...if you try to do this and use only lonestarfootball.net warning...they don't have every game in their database...I cross checked with old Dave Campbell's magazines)

Fruitvale has also done the yo-yo back and forth, leaving 6-man in the early 2000s and returning as an outlaw program in 2010 & 2011 and district for 2012. 3 year record is 17-13.

For what it's worth, Evant's record for the last three years is 13-17. The 2011 win against Prairie Lea kind of fell through the cracks. It was the last game of the regular season and was in PL. I don't know if the UIL even has it. I was trying to track it down and all I could find on it was the sixmanfootball scoreboard for that week. It was the last game unaccounted for and it looks like freeagent may have had to call the PL coach to get it.

Evant's record for the four year's before they went outlaw was 18-22.

Evant;54;Prairie Lea;32
Granger got it.

Using what Dave Campbell's Magazines have for each season, I have Evant for the 4 years of 11-man before UIL 6-man as this: 2005-2-8, 2006-7-3, 2007-4-6, 2008-4-6...that's 17-23
(2009 was an outlaw 6-man year so wouldn't consider that one in the mix)

My source for the 4 years of 11 man was the very site you warned us to be careful of (lonestarfootball.net).
They show the 2005 season to be 3-7. That could very well be wrong.
The 13-17 record for the last 3 years is correct however. Lonestarfootball and Dave Campbell's are both wrong. Neither have the
2011 Evant victory over Prairie Lea. I blame both Evant and Prairie Lea for that. I think they both just wanted the season to be over.
