Rumor of a good game

I know you must play the game, but unless Breham school closes between now and Dec. I would say that they are the outright favored. Why they didn't win it all last year I don't understand. They sent what many people thaugh was the best team Tyler St. home at half and Tyler St. didn't score.
Tyler St. is one of the best teams in Div. 2. Covenant send them home at the half with out them scoring a point. Then Breham beats Covenant!!! Unreal. I saw Breham play Tyler St. last year by far Tyler St. had better players, I think that the Breham juust out Coach Tyler St. If he out coach Covenant he out coach one of the best young coaches in TAPPS.

Brenham Christian was VERY impressive. Covenant just couldn't stop them no matter what they did. I'd like to see the team that can beat the Eagles this season in private school ball. We had the ranked 1-2, bit there will be a new No. 1 in town next week. Outside of the SWARMS of blood suckers I was glad to drive up and cover the game! Two class programs with class coaches.

Astro ... Yeah, Brenham is the favorite. And maybe it's a safe bet for them to go all the way. But I remember they had at least one tough game on their way to the finals last year.

Let's go ahead and play it all for fun anyway and see what happens.

But I am impressed by the game Thursday night. I figured Brenham would win, maybe by 10 or so; and Covenant had a serious chance of a W as well. That Tarbutton kid is an awful smart guy for a young coach.

I sure would like to see that film.

Hey Astro in last year playoffs the Street was missing their QB (grades) and RB (injury) when they played Brenham. During the Spring QB was sent packing from team for discipline reasons and this summer RB/LB left for Duncanville. The 3 other major contributors graduated, the score from Covenant this year does not tell you that there is not one starter from last year on the field and that 11 of the 14 players on the roster are Freshmeat and Sophomores.

I hope this answers some of your questions.

I wanted to post and say I was really impressed with Covenants ability to stay positive and capitalize on KR's. I was also really impressed with #7, especially defensively.

Mudcat22: I do not remember seeing #7 on the field v. Tyler Street (or v. Seguin for that matter) either...he looked like the best athlete on the field by a long shot. Who knows, with that logic, maybe brenham should be attempting a repeat for the title. Lifegatesports is right...we play the whole season because who knows when injuries happen, weather conditions, turn over problems, etc.

After Thur I will put my money on brenham easily in D2...would love to see them play greenville. If covenant could solidify that "D", they have raw talent.

Big 6, I go along with everything you said. In fact I just put a few more coins in my Piggy bank, I will probaly break it open in Dec. and bet on Breham, yes lifegate I understand they have to get there first. Mudcat,I watch the Tyler St. Breham last year, if the running back was injured he should not have been playing. Im sure you know the old saying you play hurt you watch if you are injured. I also understand that Tyler st. did lose a lot of Srs. I also understand that they are a young team this year. Covenant did beat them by 45 in the 1st half and Breham did beat Covenant, and Tyler is rated in the top 5 in D2 I still don't think they have a change. I have been reading this board for several years and I enjoy your posts. I became a six man fan several years ago when I stop by temple in Plesent Grove and watch a game. I use to drive by there every friday night if the lights were on I would stop and watch the game. By the way Im just posting what I think, Im new to this board.

Ahh Astro you are always welcome to post what you think on this board. I too remember those days back when District 3 was known as the Eagle district. I remember those trips to the Grove and Dallas Temple to see those old Metro teams of Rene Aja and then Don McEvoy. It is still a shame what happened to that school. But this is a new era in sixman, still dominated however by the Green Monster. I do not see as many games as I did then the economy has his my semi-retirement hard and I now have to put more time into the old business to keep the wifey and grand-kiddos happy.

Welcome!

I'm just hoping that the way Brenham gets there is buying tickets at the gate ... see the brackets.

As the Eagles found out last year, the winner is the guy who wins that day... and there is a lot of football between now and November/December weekends.

lifegate sports you have to be the most arrogant, cocky, sarcastic person i've ever met. you have to be the biggest homer for Seguin, yeah i'm sure ya'll have a good team, and I agree to play the season and let the best team win. But please could people just write their opinion and what they think without having to always hear comments from you!

Red Baron ... time for a little perspective. You have posted 11 times in a couple of weeks?? ... Hmmmm ... That puts your opinion slightly ahead of anything Jerry Jones might have to say about 6-man football (and he ain't talkin').

Lifegate has been posting and moderating this board for years. You OWE him more respect, but -- at minimum -- you need to give his school the respect it deserves for beating you all last year -- WITHOUT excuses.

The prevailing attitude among wisened footballers is the rule: Until you beat the competition, you're still #2. Even though Brenham won a hard-fought and impressive victory over Covenant, they still have to beat the other teams to whom they have lost. Example: Dallas beat NO last year, but was unable to win their play-off game. NO won the Super Bowl. Who was truly the better team??

Work a little on your humility. It makes celebrating victories later even more sweet!!

Stc Wildcat, coach you might want to yield to your own advice to work on humility. It's a shame that people can't come on here and post their opinions without having to hear negative remarks from guys like yourself. I appreciate a good debate with anyone, but I think we could all do without the sarcastic remarks. Thanks.

Red Baron i am not "gripping" at you for your comments to lifegate but he has the right to support his team and voice his opinion just as you. NO ONE means any hard feelings to anyone or any team. Brenham is my pick but he does make a piont in that theres alot of football left lets watch and see its only 4 games so far for cryin out loud. i state my opinions to as dumb as they are so anyone can without critisim which from what ive seen lifegate has done none. its time to forget this and talk about football

Your right. And I apologize if I've offended anyone, I'm sorry. Lifegate keep up the good work, and good luck to your team this year.

Fortunately, I am a benevolent dictator and allow modest criticism of my well-thought out and reasoned opinions.

And the ones that aren't as well thought-out and reasoned. But they seemed pretty good at the time.

You can ask my buddy Wildcat about when I get mad ... something about double secret probation. And scary guys hanging around your house.

We all gotta win four straight starting Nov. 12th or so to win a title. First one to do it gets the trophy. I still hope that Brenham attends by buying tickets at the gate. As do they hope we do as well.

And if I remember right, you guys beat us on the field last year. As it's supposed to be decided.

I have a question for you guys. If we can't talk about who we feel like will win the Div, because only 3or4 games have been played, why do we have poles, and why does Vagas take bets on the Super bowl before the season starts? The discusstion on this thread has been going several weeks now, while others have faded away. There are several reason that I will pick Breham, they beat a top 3 school in D1, and they beat Tyler St. who had a great team last year and
send them home scoreless at the half. I know about the QB for Tyler back but the running back did play.

It's a shame that people can't come on here and post their opinions without having to hear negative remarks from guys like yourself.

Red Baron: I have read and re-read my post and remain puzzled. Sarcasm?? Yes. The JJ comment -- although true -- was somewhat sarcastic. Negative remarks?? Never made any. Not to you, anyway. Maybe it's your self-image problem ... oops ... Did I post that out loud???

Astro: I agree that we need to keep this Board enlivened, and speaking about favorites and champions early in the season will always spark a debate. However, some people take it VERY personally when you use sarcasm or dry humor to poke fun at posts (a la Snoopy's nemesis above ...). Or, Heaven forbid, you suggest a little humility first.
You must, absolutely, support your team. Here we are 2 losses into the season and Dallas fans still think we must be in pre-season. The shock of reality takes quite some time to sink in when you are a fan of the Star.

Keep it active, current, and appropriate.

BEWARE!! Lifegate ain't kidding about the double secret probation with extenuating circumstances ... And I have personally seen those scary shadow guys!

They were missing The QB and the CB.. The Rb played and he was not injured

Yep - i would not count Tyler Street out -- look at this little piece of evidence:

Week 2 - Avalon 34 Dallas Tyler Street 45
Week 3 - Avalon 56 Greenville Christian 40

It's a long season with ups & downs .... 'stuff' happens between now and the State Championship game. That's part of the fun!

True don't count TSCA out, a win over Avlon was big , bigger after Alvon beat Greenville. Tyler St. also gets the good side of the Draw, if they win Dist. With them playing Fulton on homecoming they will have a lot of motivation. But that game and the game against Parkview could be for the Dist. Champ. If they win Dist. I think they may make it to the big game , looking back at their history they can't win the big game or event get to it this goes back to when they played 11 man football. Who knows this may be their year, Im still pickling Breham unless their school closes before Dec. then I'll go along with Lifegate.
