Our sport and the dominance of one school.

Cowboy I think a better way of saying it would be, I hope someone steps up and beats a very good RS team, not hope they lose. Hell, topher wants them to lose 3 or 4 games in district, now thats just pure jealousy..

Jealousy? Why would I be jealous? I was not born, never lived, nor do I teach in the great state of Texas.

And by the way, I can't believe, you and Topher80 are actually wanting someone to lose. I thought you wanted everyone to be a winner and take home a trophy!
Not even close! I like to see barn burner games. The team that goes home with the trophy needs to work their tails off to earn it.

Flats, you are correct. I should have worded it differently. I hope someone beats a strong RS team by working their tails off to earn the win.
Better?

Uhm, westtexasflats... I gave you the reasons why I had no cause to be jealous and that is your rejoinder? Fair enough.

Back on topic, if I were doing the rankings I'd put RS at #1 because to do otherwise would be unjust. We'll see if someone dethrones the king or if once again everyone is playing for second place.

Not at all, winner takes the trophy home just a bit of diversity on the location of said trophy would be beneficial to the game.

Every "dynasty" has a shelf life. I believe that the current dynasty is nearing the end of theirs. But that is an opinion. Coach Burkhart has a knack for bringing out the best of his athletes, he is a student of the game, and is second to none on his understanding of the facet of 6 man football, so it will be a long time before the coyotes are down and out. Even in a year like this one where they lost 8 seniors on a team of 13, he will find a way to win. That's what winners do. In the meantime, there are coaches out there who are learning the formula, and will eventually figure it out. When they do, there will be a coach looking to improve on that formula. It is how our game has evolved, and evolved it has. Just like everyone else, I wish every team the best of luck, unless you are playing my team, in which case I wish you to be 45'd with authority. Anything less, then you need to step up your game as a fan!!!!

I would disagree, 100%!!!!! Being the reigning state champion does not automatically make you #1. It's a new year, roughly 1/4 of your team is replaced with kids 5 years younger on an annual basis. Will RS be good? yes. Will they win district? probably. Will they win state? who knows? I don't think so, but I wouldn't be the first person to think that and be wrong. I will post my rankings soon and I won't have RS at #1. Not saying they can't get there, but right now, from my perspective, they are not the #1 team.

You make a valid point but I still think RS should be #1. We'll see what happens...

Much better, I know RS will eventually lose I will be one of the first to congratulate the team thats wins. Lets all remember these are our kids playing for fun not a million dollars. Our recruiting has been a little slow this year, but we did land a couple of hosses, so who knows. Got the kids parents jobs they couldnt refuse at the Duck......

It's too simple, if you don't like it, do it better and beat them.

You need to have the athletes. I'm a high school coach and no matter how hard I practice my team, other schools some years just have better all-round athletes. Faster, stronger, and better. Plus you need a development program like RS because you need build them from a young age.

I have a simple solution. Let's move Dallas Covenant to UIL in Richland Springs' division. That'd be a win-win for all of us. LOL!

Kidding!!

If you want the best to lose, you gotta step up and beat 'em.

What a bunch of Bologna this topic is! I can't even believe 1 single person backed topher up on this. Sounds a bit socialist to me. The crap about it hurting the game? Are you serious? That's an excuse to justify some wanting to see RS come down a notch or two. If a coach or parent is doing it right, they are teaching their kids to strive for the very excellence that the RS program is. Win or lose if you happen to meet them.

Socialist? Uhmm, not quite sure how that word is applicable in football but okay. And yes, if RS wins the next 10 state championships, it will hurt the game.

This may be one of the most rediculous topics I've ever read. There has never been a dynasty in any sport that made that sport "boring". In fact, dynasties do opposite, it keeps people watching wondering when that upset/loss will happen.

The topic of wondering who will dethrone the champs is all well and good, but to say that another team needs to win it or else ruin the sport, is absurd. And if you disagree with me, please provide an example of a dynasty that ruined a sport (European soccer leagues don't count, and you should lose your man-card for even mentioning that).

Ouch. I don't lose a "man-card" for citing European soccer. Manchester United has ruined the English game much like Bayern Munich as ruined the German game. In the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, the Montreal Canadiens ruined ice hockey and I'm a Canadiens fan. I'm sorry that no American professional franchise sport has managed to obtain the dominance seen in soccer or ice hockey. Your argument is invalid because you base it on my "man-card".

Ok, you're last post explains a ton.

Here in Texas, not many care about soccer or hockey. In Texas, sixman football will not be ruined by one team's dominance. If that bores you, then this sport isn't important to you as it is to us. I guess what I'm trying to say is: I guess you might as well watch soccer and hockey.
