Modern approaches to sports medicine actually suggest against kneeling during games in these situations. Some leagues actually "ban" it. The risks include cramping which Gordon was already battling last night. In cold weather like that it is risky to kneel for several minutes. I for one would have been pissed if my kid was kneeling out there in that weather. Looked to me Gordon left the area and went to the sideline and gave Abbott plenty of room and everyone on Gordon's side clapped and cheered for the player when he was helped up out of respect. In my many decades of going to games, when you are a really good team like Abbott and you are getting beat like they were, fans can be in a heightened state of critical. Abbott played their tails off and left it all out on the field. I for one was proud of their undying effort. Most teams fold up when they are down 38-0.
