Gordon vs Abbott Thoughts

Gordon lost only 1 senior and he wasn't a huge contributor. So they have basically the same team except those kids are all faster and stronger. They also have the experience of winning a state championship under their belt. You think they're not hungry to do it again? Did Abbott not lose any players either? Did they pick up some kids who will make their team a lot better than last year? Did Abbott not have #9 last year? Did he really get so much better from last year that he can make up a 45 point difference in the game? Most of these "do it for a living" guys you're talking about probably don't know anything about sixman football. They just throw their guesses out there like everyone else but don't even watch sixman games. I wouldn't trust a thing they say. I'd go off what the majority of guys that post on this site say before any of those so called experts. We'll find out in a few days but I have a feeling Abbott is going home empty handed and they could go home before time expires in the 4th.
That’s spot on. I had same conversation with a friend. He was telling how Abbott is faster and stronger ect than a year ago. My simple response was “ Do you think the Gordon didn’t grow any from last year? Did they shrink? Did they get slower? It’s amazing how one team can grow stronger and faster and be more competitive but other teams simply stay the same. I mean there’s home town pride and trust me I have it. There’s also seeing with your own eyes and understanding the game. I’d be truly surprised if anyone takes Gordon to 4th quarter. But no one will beat them. Good news is we get to watch this group play again next year. Bad news is this group is playing again next year.

Did they pick up some kids who will make their team a lot better than last year?
Yes, Starting QB #7 was at Abbott last season but did not play and #10, starting center was injured in the early part of the year and did not play.
Did Abbott not have #9 last year?
Yes they did, with a significant injury at about 40%.
Did he really get so much better from last year that he can make up a 45 point difference in the game?
Yes he did, at full strength he's a great player. You will see on Saturday.

Were those kids all playing and healthy when they only beat Oglesby by 28 and gave up 38 to BC and 24 to Saint Jo? If so, how the heck do they plan on stopping Gordon? They'll score every time they touch the ball and probably in under 5 plays. You confident that Abbott can keep up? I hope you're right so it can at least be a good game and because I've already got a nice trophy set aside for the big Goon if Abbott can win. 🤣

Oh, OK. You are right! I guess you finally convinced me. I guess you have been right all along. Good thing you are on here to get us crazy Abbott supporter in check and help us see the light.

It's not how you start it's how you finish!

Keep living up to your name fella, it fits you!

I don't have a dog in the fight so I'm just asking objective questions. I haven't seen Abbott play but I've seen Gordon. I don't know how they can be stopped and looking at Abbott's previous game scores doesn't give me much hope for them either. I don't really give a crap who wins this game. Believe it or not I just want to see a good game. I just don't see how that's possible from what I've seen and heard so far.

All you Abbott supporters getting all personal and crying and resorting to name calling doesn't help me see the light either. It's like y'all are already mad and the game hasn't even been played yet.

Make sure it's nice and shiny! Anything is possible right? Good thing those boys don't leave it up to us!

I'm kind of the opposite of Joker. I've seen Abbott play (a whole ONE Time) but not Gordon. The Longhorns are the champs and probably have the slight edge when you look at their schedule. I think you may be right that Gordon has a tough defense and quick scoring offense but Abbott does as well and I think they're playing with a chip on their shoulder with key players that were either out or not healthy last year. In a close game, I take those odds for fun!

I'm a Bengals fan so that should tell you a lot!

ur right Abbott may go home empty handed, but i believe it will be alot closer than people may think, because Abbott is pretty good themselves

Abbott is better than pretty good!! Ive seen them this year, and they are real dang good!! The problem is Gordon is just a monster, and they have to be climbing up everyones short list of maybe being the best 6man team ever?

Ur right Abbott is real dang Good. That's why I think this game MIGHT be closer than most think

I think Abbott wins for these reasons

1) last year was overconfidence and Gordon hungry for a year for that game and Abbott not aware of the time and energy put into that game. Not the case and tables reversed now. Has Gordon thought about Abbott cause they had top ranked May and Jonesboro to worry bout and now this game is on them and Abbott all this time working for this game. Script flipped.

2) Abbott will have the best football player on the field with #9. He doesn’t get much outside attention cause he’s not promoting to do sports outside of HS, but he could if he wanted to.

3) Every sports analyst I’ve seen is picking Abbott. Gordon might be the favorite, but they do this for a living or a serious hobby and study enough to know.

4) young head coach vs experienced, something to prove gives them the edge. I hope they don’t play to try to be close in the end just say they were. They will need to take chance and be aggressive. Hence why I like the young coach in this. Guns blazing.

I don’t know why folks get bent out of shape when the hometown guy reads that someone didn’t pick their team.

If that was the case there’d only be one fan base.

Abbott believes they can win and I tend to agree for the above reason.
I agree #9 is a hoss, probably could be linebacker in upper class 11 man football. ive seen him take the heart right out of running backs, if you're carrying the ball be prepared cause he will do a smack down on you. And if he gets the ball in his hands he will run right through you, he has very good hands catching the ball and hard to bring down. He got injured early in the game in last year"s quarterfinals matchup against Gordon. dude is one tough hombre. Panthers are healthy and have alot more arrows in their quiver this year and they have the heart of a lion, and that may be what puts them over the top in this game.

I agree, i think Abbott will hang around until the 3rd with the group of boys they have along with great coaching, but like last year I just think they’ll meet there match and Gordon will pull away with speed in the 2nd half.

Are any of the three studs (1,2 &3) going to go to 11 man like Rigdon next year or will they go for a 3 peat?
