Gordon vs Abbott Thoughts

You can't "smack down" what you can't catch!!! SPEED KILLS!!!
I would agree if this was a track meet, but this is a football game, you still have to execute and take care of the ball. No doubt Gordon has a great football team and got some guys that can scoot, they have a explosive offense. they havent been challenged this year in my opinion and saturdays contest will be the test to see how great they are. if they do what they did to Abbott last year then ill be the first to tip my hat to them. what im saying the makeup of this team is a lot different from last years squad. I believe offensively they can be just as explosive as Gordon, they run the ball well and have a excellent passing game this year. Defensively they added some depth from the freshman class of last season that helps keep fresh legs out on the field. first game of the season against Ogelsby Abbott was just trying out their new offensive sets and struggled first half but put it together second half and put it away. Ogelsby has a pretty good gritty team, they made it to the semis as well in Div 2. All i was referring to about #9 is what ive seen him do on the field, I dont believe hes anything like what Gordon has come up against this season defensively, hes a outstanding athelete. if you ellude him you best hope #8 isnt nearby by, cause he will hit you just as hard. Gordon better be on its toes, this Panther squad is hungry and looking to avenge last year's loss, they are ready to lay it all out. the excitement leading up to this game has been fun, should be exciting game and i honestly believe Abbott can win this game.

Yes, Starting QB #7 was at Abbott last season but did not play and #10, starting center was injured in the early part of the year and did not play.

Yes they did, with a significant injury at about 40%.

Yes he did, at full strength he's a great player. You will see on Saturday.
#9 in last years game wasnt even at 40% after the injury, he was literally hoping around on one leg, shouldnt have even been out there on the field, but that shows you the toughness this kid has. they finally had to take him out. It was later revealed the severity of his injury and its amazing that he even tried to keep playing, big heart. #7 has done a fantastic job of taking over at the QB spot and by doing so freed up the running and passing game.. Also #10 has an amazing story in his last 4 high school years at Abbott, what he has overcome is a true testament to his courage and toughness, hes the true definition of a country boy, aint scared to mix it up and aint backing down. hes just as tough as #9.

They have been challenged in 2 years!!! The main reason SPEED!!!

Why does anyone need to justify or make excuses for the past? All I see are Abbott people arguing with the rest of the state. Not sure there are any actual Gordon people posting on here. These are two of the top programs in the state and are rich in tradition. They both have talent and are coached very well. Show some respect and let the coaches do thier jobs and players play the game. No doubt both teams will be ready on Saturday and they certainly dont need the help of anyone on here!

Isn't that what this site is for talking about the games? Let people give their opinions and let the team fans take up for their teams. No harm done. The games will still be played no matter what we say. Some of us will be right and some will be wrong. Some of us will disappear and some of us will be back here to say I told you so. Is this your first time? Wait aren't you the one who did one of the bracket things?

If these post "ruffle your feathers" you would have to seek counselling from post 3-4 years ago!!!🤣🤣🤣

"and it’s going to be a wet and cold night" (D.F.G). Not that cold, about 45. But wet and cold is different. 50% chance of rain for Godley, 70% Friday. Maybe a soaked and/or slick field.
A wet field does not favor speed. Maybe a slight increased advantage to Abbott?

if forecast holds up the weather could be a factor in the game but not sure if it favors one or the other. Turnovers can be crucial in conditions like whats forecasted for this game. I would imagine the turf field at Godley drains very well, they have a very nice set up there, but there still could be some footing issues. but you still have to play with a wet ball and that could pose some concerns for both teams, and of course the special teams extra point kicking game is a concern. in high scoring games with a lot of touchdowns in six man football if you miss just 3 extra point attempts, thats the equivelant to a TD. so yes the weather could be a factor in this game.
