Best six man football players of all time

Don't think anyone is denying how talented Grayson Rigdon is.

I hold the same opinion of their situation as I do every other team who does it. As well as bigger districts that have open enrollment to recruit kids in their area and create local super teams.

If we are talking pure talent GR is in that conversation if not leading it. But if we do include other things outside of the game questions can be had if he's the best ever.

Some of what you are saying makes too much sense, but you can't get on here and say disparaging things about GR or any of the Rigdons. Lord forbid! You are ruffling feathers. Lots of folks hold them up on a pedestal. How dare you speak ill of the great one! LOL
Yeah hating on a kid that made it to a D1/P4 conference from a 6man background is really cool to do... real ethical! Have you asked Poppa Rigdon how many jobs he applied for before any of those schools picked him up?

Since you opened this can of worms. The bright lights always shine brightest when you land on team ladened with senior talent. It wasn't happenstance that the Rigdons and GR landed in Strawn GR's freshmen year. Strawn had a talented, senior heavy team very capable of winning state BEFORE the Rigdon family landed in Strawn, but it certainly solidified the team since GR's brother was part of the team too. Richland Springs probably was the better team before the Rigdons moved to Strawn but that bridge had already been burned. So Strawn wins State in 2021 and graduates seven or eight seniors, who decides that the grass is greener elsewhere? So Benjamin is the landing spot where a loaded team awaits GR and company, and 2 more State championships are added. The move to eleven man football in Columbus wasn't much different. Columbus already had a great team with a top quarterback and stingy defense. GR was a great addition and so it goes. GR was a top player on all four teams, but does that make him the GOAT? Players always look better on the winning teams at Jerry's World. It seems GR had been in the transfer portal in six man football for 4 seasons and we didn't even notice it. Lol. If the Rigdon's had landed in Moran or Lohn we wouldn't be having this discussion, but careful destination selections get different results. All of this is for entertainment purposes.

I disagree about Strawn GR's freshman year. Without him and Griff, I dont think they win a state championship, and would have had a loss against FW Covenant (Griff rushed for 400 I believe). They had a great team and potentially could have went to state, but they aren't the same team without those two.

You have to remember Benjamin had Brody White and a good supporting cast prior to Chaka coming. Then the Hayes kid too. That was Benjamins best team out of GR's time.

The second year, Benjamin wasn't near as deep or experienced. And even though they had two Hayes kids playing, one was just a freshman. Without GR on either team they dont win state.

Columbus was a great team and choice for GR to prepare for the inevitable (d1 power 4 CFB). Yes they were stacked, but they also lost a game that season when GR was hurt/injured. Without GR, I dont think they win state either.

Just my opinion though. I still have him as the GOAT

This is the best summation of the facts, he shouldn’t have even been eligible his freshman sophomore or senior years by the Texas transfer rules. The fact that schools can hire a “coach” and their children get eligibility is directly contradicting the ethics bylaws. Strain Benjamin and Columbus would be striped of those titles if they had “scouted” him but somehow paying his dad to occupy the sidelines isn’t scouting. Not only is he not the goat his family as a whole is stain on the sport and the antithesis of sportsmanship. We haven’t seen anything from him out of Arizona St. most likely won’t. Reed is the real deal and Ham just set a new record I believe both of those kids are leaps and bounds better than gr.

Do you know the rules and bylaws? Why would he be ineligible his freshman year exactly? Also why do you hate him so much? He already proved he was unstoppable in 6man. Give credit where credit is due.

My Vote is Bode Ham. Or did y’all miss the game ?
Great player but I dont think the GOAT by any means. Ben Crockett would maul him and so would Dewayne Miles. So would Throck during their runs with Coach Reed. Imo if Jayton teams played any of the mid 2000 RS teams they get beat regardless.

Note: I hate the division split. We didn't see the best play the best in the entire playoffs. Seeing how Benjamin gave them a run for their money, I think there would have been some d1 teams that would have had Jaytons number too, not including the GOAT team of all time in the Gordon Longhorns.

Very aware of the players on the Benjamin team those two years and so was everyone else in the six-man world. Duh! Benjamin was loaded just like Strawn was loaded before GR arrived. It's always nice to have the table set before dinner as they say.

Who did they have the second year besides GR, and the 2 Hayes brothers? They weren't as strong imo that year as the first year. Brody White and a big senior group graduated from what I remember the first go round. And tbh, Coach Hayes is a great coach too. And he had a great staff as well. So good coaching and a good team tend to accomplish things.

Dewayne Miles, Damien Jackson, Ben Crockett, Grayson Rigdon, Tyler Ethridge, Trey Richey, Monte Richburg, Manuel Beltran, Jack Pardee, Ken Konz, Ed Sprinkle

I would say Rigdon, Ethridge, Beltran and Konz are the top 4 that are the same type of player...a "6man player"...if you are talking just plain "Football Player" I would say Miles, Crockett, Richburg, Sprinkle, Pardee, and Konz

Im picking Ken Konz as the greatest Texas 6man football player

How does we settle the tie breaker on who is the best? If playing college football is the tie breaker we will have take a wait and see on Rigdon and Stryker. Tyler still has eligibility to play some college ball he wants to. Dwayne Miles has to be the best choice at this point in time, better than Jack Pardee.
How about character of the athlete

TE has 0 eligibility left. He originally enrolled/went to school at sull ross so the clock is up.
Hey, let's revisit this eligibility issue. If Stetson Bennett could quarterback Georgia at age 26 couldn't the NCAA just let TE play at age 36 ( just a guess)? The NCAA let Pavia at Vanderbilt play an additional 2 years even though he played and started 2 years (2020 and 2021) at New Mexico Military Institute, 2 years at New Mexico State (2022 and 2023) and just finished his second year at Vanderbilt (2024 and 2025). That's 6 years of college football, starting too. Not hiding at the end of the bench. Those NCAA rules are made to be broken or just bent!! Lol So anything goes now days in regard to eligibility. Besides you could hurt someone feelings with that 0-eligibility statement.

Ronnie Hughes of Carbon and Charlie Gray of Cherokee are two of the best players never mentioned on this website. Ronnie was bullish, bruising running back almost impossible to tackle and played on Carbon's best team (1965). He played college ball at Tarleton as an offensive lineman. Charlie was famous as being the State sprint champion from Cherokee who could play football and was on some of Cherokee's greatest teams. Long before all the hype and notoriety associated with this website, they were considered the GOAT's of six-man football.
