Where's Jerry????

I know no one wants a coach that doesn't want to be there but really what good is a contract?
I can understand applying with out knowing for sure.
I can even understand if the job was offered and he chose another.
do districts actually offer a contract? or just extend the job offer? can a district do the same as the employee ? I change their mind
and if they all can what good is the contract?
with texas being a hire and fire at will state why do they go through the processes?

Actually I believe if a coach or teacher is under contract, without due cause and a paper trail documenting actions taken against the employee, reprimands and improvement plans, a school can not just fire them without spending thousands in legal fees, usually costing more than contract is worth. A teacher or coach can quit at any time, and if the school wanted to then peruse legal action, they could keep that employee from entering into a new contract somewhere else, though again, the legal fees make it an irrational action normally.
