Where's Jerry????

Insight

11-man fan
I heard through the grapevine that Coach Burkhart was supposed to start working at Gordon on Monday the 6th, but has yet to show up. What is the deal?

Be patient.
Moving is hard.
Actually,
If you volunteered
to move and set-up all of their appliances,
which includes crawlin' under the house and runnin' a water line,
that may speed up the process a bit.
jus sayin'.

Dang. With a thread title like that I thought maybe that "other" Jerry went back to Arkansas or something.
Speculation is always more fun.
I read on here he was there for the clinic so I'll bet that maybe he might show up in time for two a days.
Then again he could have changed his mind. Only the shadow knows for sure.

I am not absolutely certain, but is this not the SECOND time that Jerry was officially given the position at Gordon, then backed out? Seems that his strong morals may need a bit of tweaking. Or at least he needs to stop jumping the gun and leaving schools flailing in the mix late in the coaching carousel!

So what top echelon coaches are left out there that may want a good job at a championship school? Jerry left Gordon in a bad situation.

Relax dude.
There's plenty of time.

First of all, There is PLENTY of time for Gordon to hire a coach (if the choose so or they can keep the asst that's in place).
I'm sure Gordon with all their rich tradition can find a quality coach...IT'S ONLY MAY......
(only folks that may be loving this is the folks at Strawn)

2nd, from reading Coach Burkhart's post, He had a VERY TOUGH decision to make and in his eyes, HE MADE THE RIGHT ONE.
NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE ELSE THINKS -OR- SAYS......

COACHES COME AND COACHES GO.....
Give it two years, and this will be a thing of the past.

Good luck to Gordon and Good luck to Coach Burkhart.

Like I've been told many times,
All because the grass is alot greener on the other side must mean they'v been using some top notch cow-patty fertilizer.
So stay home and grow your own green grass.

The apology was sincere, but still does not leave Gordon in any better of a situation. There has been A LOT of time to mill this decision over. When the time came to show up, Gordon got the bad end of it. Kids are disappointed, admin is disappointed, community is disappointed. Could have at least given them the heads up that there was a predisposition to the possibility of pulling out. These last minute things can kill a program. In the end, I am sure Gordon does not want a coach there that does not truly want to be there. Better for everyone long term, not good for the kids that bought in short term.

"Kill a program?"

No.
Football is about overcoming adversity.
The trouble with that dang ol' adversity
is that you can't choose when you have to deal with it.
Well boys,
here it is.
Whatchagot?

There are several coaches that back out after giving their word. It has happened to Trent, Spur, and now Gordon. What confuses me is why schools keep hiring these guys? Obviosuly, they have ZERO loyalty to kids. To them it is about following talent and doing anything to win. No character!
