I'd just as soon see Rankin move to D-II, those kids are tough and they are well coached. Of course, this is for selfish reasons as you can imagine.

Are you kidding? Worried is not the word for it but there is no sense tempting and angry Red Devil. I'd just as soon see them go to D-II and terrorize those schools. Maybe they'll meet Richland Springs in the championship game and represent the west as well as Motley Co. did this year. Worried - no; healty respect - yes.

Well said! It's obvious that healthy respect = I don't want to play them, but I completely understand. I had them picked to play for the championship.

I really hope they go back to 5/6 team districts with a couple of bye districts thrown in. Maybe it will help stop 1-9 and 2-8 teams from making the playoffs by winning A district game.

Until the UIL decides that three teams from each district may go to the playoffs, just like in 2/3/4/5A.

The quality of teams that make the playoffs would be better taking the top 3 of a 6 team district than it is taking the top 2 of a 4 team district.

To be fair, the 1A and 2A crowded field districts (also with the D1/D2 split as six-man) also only take two teams from each district. Once you get up to the rarified air of 3A do you choose additional teams and then they are shuttled to D1/D2 based on enrollment (althought it is possible ... and has happened ... that the D2 champion was a larger school in enrollment than the D1 champion).

Which reminds me ... I gotta go to SA in the morning, so let me run and set the DVR for the realignment show on FSSW.
