Tombaall Homeschool vs Throckmorton

I know Throckmorton is a powerhouse with alot of tradition, but Tomball has 26 players with a very strong D and good offensive speed. It will be good for Tomball guys to see how 6 man is played at the level Throckmorton plays at. The game is the 22nd in Brenham. What will the outcome be? :| :|

I'm excited to see how Tomball plays in this game, I may drive up to Brenham myself just for the occasion. By looking at Tomball's wins and what not its clear that they are about what FEAST was last year, and it appears they should be a favorite to win TCAL D1. Good luck to both teams but I'm just gonna go for the underdog on this one and hope they can pull of a big upset.

Just so you know corylusk, 16 of those players are varsity and 8 are JV players who dress for varsity gasmes and very seldom get in. Fortunately TCH has had some games this year that they have been able to play their JV guys. So, due to financial costs, scheduling, fields, etc., 6 man is the only option that givesd all these young guys a chasnce to play the great game. 8)

After FEAST played Richland Springs this year I was able to compare how the TCAL championship team from last year would have compared with the elite programs in UIL. Feast would have been competitive to within 15-20 points but still would have been beaten. Unless Tomball Homeschool is way better than the Feast team of 2009 or unless Throckmorton is not as good as years past, this game will probably not be too close. Tribe played Feast last year and Tomball Homeschool this year. It would be interesting to see how they would compare the 2 teams. I'm looking forward to seeing Waco Live Oak and Tomball Homeschool. It's good to see growth in TCAL and a larger # of good teams.

With all do respect! The FEAST team from last year would 45 the FEAST team from this year...if the coach decided to do so. RS still would have been the favorite, no doubt. However last years FEAST team is much like the Live Oak and Tomball team this year. Impressive and underated!

I just got home from the Throck vs Tomball Homeschool game and all I have to say is WOW!! Game over 60 to 0 at the half. I have never seen complete team speed like Throck. We were able to move the ball between the goal lines with our offense and our starting tailback got 115 yards rushing on them, but if you don't score it doesn't matter. Our defense had no answer for the Throck offense. Of course 2 turnovers with one of them inside the 10 yard line after a nice drive on Throck really hurt us in the first quarter. After what I saw tonight, I would be surprised if there is a better team than Throck in Texas at any level in 6 man. I spoke to the Throck coach Mike Reed after the game and what a class guy. I hope these guys make their goal of going to the UIL finals and play Garden City. I may even try to travel to Abilene to watch that game.

I am really glad our team played Throck. We got our head handed to us, but our coaches and boys will learn from this experience and use it to make Tomball a better team.

It was a looong drive but worth it. Yall have some great kids that stayed fired up the entire game no matter what. I was sitting on the home side keeping stats and enjoyed meeting alot of very nice fans. The announcer was pretty colorful also  Good luck with the rest of the season.

I hate to ask this but....... What did tomball get out of this? They learned what exactly? Maybe I am narrow minded would someone educate me please? They already knew throck was better than them. Now it seems to me that you have taught them to lose. Is there something I am missing? I guess you taught them to lose well?

It would seem to me that you would gain more by playing someone more closely matched than playing throck. Would westlake learn anything from playing UT?
Sorry people I didn't mean to get sideways here but it just didn't make sense to me.

Let's use your logic. What did Throckmorton get out of this? Unless they made a tour of the Blue Bell plant, they stuck their kids on a bus, took a long ride, spent a lot of the school district's money, beat another bunch of kids pretty quick, got back on the bus and went home.

You're putting too much into this. It was a football game for both teams. Throck needed a game and so did the Tomball Home School kids. Problem solved. And for the Tomball coaches, they answered the question -- how would we stack up to the top teams in UIL? Perhaps they knew the answer but now they know it for sure.

I'm still trying to find the NBCA-Tomball Home School JV score ... for all the yakking on the varsity game, sounds like no one showed up for the opening act!

Hey lifegatesports .... I tried to get the score for you, but to no avail. I think the score was NBCA 46 and Tomball JV 13.

What score did you get? :?:

Well Lifegate, What do we get out of any of lifes many day to day conflicts? You get out of them what you put into it. If playing a better team means you prepare as hard as you can and do your best, and you lose, then you lose. And next week you get back at practice, look at where you are, learn from the experience and move on. Like I said before the game, what would it be like to always play teams that you can beat and never stretch yourself to face Goliath. Every now and then we all have to face a much superior opponent in what ever area of life it might be, being a dad, or a mom, facing a child with a serious disease, or maybe a salesman trying to get a customer that no one else in the company has been able to get. You just do your best, learn from it and thank God for the opprotunity to try. I hope you life isn't as boring as, well we got beat, that wasn't any fun. Take it for what it is and enjoy life.

Bigfoote, I might be on your side on this one. Someone questioned why the game was scheduled.

I thought hey, two teams needed a game. And maybe if I had been in the same situation as Tomball (and Throckmorton), I'd have scheduled the game. Some of us would have said, no thanks, Coach Reed. I recognize the good folks at Tomball Home School decided to take the plunge.

And we've had our fair share of getting our butts kicked from here to next week. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

bigfoote .... fyi, I think the comment you were addressing was made by wisdomofone, not lifegate. I agree with everything you said, but wisdomofone seems to have a different perspective than us.

Ok maybe I shouldn't post on here late at night. I just kept reading how tomball was going to learn from this and how much benefit they got from it. My question was not what kind of life lesson they were learning. My question was how did they benefit from this as a team? It would seem to me like I said before it's like Austin high playing UT (well maybe not right now LOL). But as a football team how do they get better by playing them? Playing in a game with someone better than you is a good idea. But playing someone that can destroy you in my opinion is not. Especially when tomball has such a good program. It's like David and Goliath but the giant wins. As far as the deep philosophical life lessons why don't we leave those up to the parents and the preachers.

Well wisdomofone, cool name, by the way, having the opportunity to set in on the TCH film session and see what happened in the game, gives me a much better perspective on the game. It was really good to see how close TCH is to being e very good team. Most of the td's form Throck game on minor mistakes, which a very good team like Throck will always capitalize on, but it also gave TCH a good look at where they are as a team and what areas they need to continue to concentrate on to get to the next level. Victories come in many forms and as for the "life lessons", as a coach, that is my ultimate goal. Teaching young men how to become better men, husbands, dads, and all around people through football. I agree the parents are ultimately responsible for this teaching but it is also our responsibility as men to teach the younger guys how life works. My sons are all grown and have their own lives, but many things they learned from coaches still help them in their lives today.

Thank you bigfoote I think I understand now. I was really curious about what they gained from this as a team but I guess you can learn from Goliath every now and then
