This is why is why i hate divisions

I mean the first D2 state game, when Northside won, they lost to a Bible Heritage team earlier in the season. Sorry Mike! Lol

In my opinion, that was a weak year in D2. It's gotten better but I'm old school as well. I have always wanted 1 division and larger districts to come back. District meant more, and obviously if you are the only state champion, I'm sure that would mean more to imo.

Northside did have some kids banged up, and played a terrible game but, yeah, losing that game when Richland Springs beat them something like 50-0 told me that there was a clear difference in the divisions, at least back then. I do think that gap is a lot closer right now, especially at the top, but the DI schools are still overall better than the DII schools.

I just don’t understand why so many 6man people are so hung up on this. I rarely hear anyone saying anything about it in any of the other classifications, unless the team they are supporting is a juggernaut and then maybe they get curious. How many D2 coaches do yall think would actually like to go back to that? Who would be excited to see your school with about 35 enrollment get put in a district with all schools above 80 enrollment? Probably about as many people that would like to start saddling up horses to ride to work again, when its up hill both ways and -10 degrees with snow. LOL

I respect your opinion. I've said this multiple times before and Techman kind of repeated what I said. 8 team districts. Whoever has high enrollment, the top 2 go to D1 playoffs. Whoever has lower enrollment, top to go to the D2 playoffs. That way we still have 2 divisions for playoffs. Again, I'd rather have one because I'm old school. But this is one thing I have mentioned regarding larger districts while still having 4 teams going to the playoffs. 2 for D1 and 2 for D2.

I dont like that idea either. I respect it, but don’t like it. They are doing it starting this year in basketball. I believe it will be a fail, because we will have several above average size D1 schools in the D2 bracket for playoffs. Time will tell, we will see how it all plays out soon enough.

Well if they didn't do the split all those small schools would still have to play all those big schools. At least this way there's a better chance for the smaller schools.

If the UIL is going to split basketball, they need to put the school's that don't play football their own division.

I have never posted a single message on this site. I read and keep up with this site all the time. From reading the post I have to say that I believe 95% of people posting on here are way younger than myself. With that being said, I really believe in my heart do away with the divisions do with all these second place teams and go back to having one true champion out of your district and one true state champion like it was before they got money involved. That’s how we did it and won!!
I can only dream that this scenario could happen. You're a lucky man being able to play in an era that wasn't full of participation trophy's an division splits. 10 team districts eliminate scheduling/travel/ expenses. And teams cant dodge a tough opponent regular season. Playoffs would be competitive again. Yeah, I'm jealous lol
