This is why is why i hate divisions

an example would be Mclean from a few years ago. they steamrolled their way to the state title, then returned practically their entire team the next yr. they thought the title was theirs for the taking as they steamrolled their way back to the title game. Everyone predicted they would go back to back, because they were so talented and dominant. BUT they ran into a buzzsaw named Blum, Who Shocked everyone by upsetting them.
I beg to differ on McLean practically returning their entire team in 2019 from their championship season in 2018. Mclean leaned heavily on their star running back throughout 2019 to get back to the second state championship game and Crockett was more than a little worn down from the game tapes I watched. Those role players certainly played big roles throughout the 2018 season and were missed at Jerry's World in 2019.

agree to this.. they lost several big pieces from the year before, several of the linemen and big Chism

The fact crockett willed them to the comeback win over Rankin was crazy impressive in itself. Blum however had the perfect game plan on

my entire point was that any team can be beaten at any time, no matter how good they might be

Tell me you know nothing about football. Mclean graduated 4 seniors from 2018 and with them they would have beat blim by 60 at halftime... the tiger team in 2019 had 5 decent players and then The main combo was Crockett and Linman. Blum had to stop one kid. The rankings and wanna be 6man experts pit mclean as a heavy favorite but they were not imo more than a one score favorite over Blum. By the way congrats to Blum but they were no buzz saw.

Thank you for clarifying. Others memories seem to be way shorter when it comes to what actually happened.

And I believe Crockett was maybe 75% healthy (knee) for the state championship game his senior year but McLean, Linman, and Crockett never made any excuses for losing to Blum. But yeah 2018 McLean team was loaded. All big and fast. 2019 Crockett carried that team to state.

True the best 2 teams are without much doubt Gordon and Jayton. But is that every year. Heck no! But by your thoughts maybe 3A D2 champion could beat 3A D1 champion. Would go as far to say it’s possible a 5A D1 Champion may very well beat the 6A State Champion and on and on etc……..With all due respect your idea is nonsense.
Strawn (GRs freshman season), Benjamin(GR sophomore season) could've won the state championship without divisions imo. Benjamin (GRs junior year) possibly would've gotten runner up last season to Gordon. Jayton would be runner-up to Gordon without divisions this season imo. So I guess my idea isn't nonsense with all due respect.

I agree with everything you just said. There have certainly been years the State Champion D2 very well may have been better than the D1. Who cares, I know it’s not 6 man but my point remains that I made about other classifications as well. Sometimes a smaller school has a better team than a larger school. I understand what you’re saying. Let me say again, I understand what you’re saying. Maybe you will finally understand. I DISAGREE WITH YOU! I believe there is more reasons than not to have 2 divisions of 6 man football and evidently the UIL does as well. Keep preaching, maybe you can convince them to go back to 1 division. Take Care

You're good, no worries. I respect your opinions and I know the split will never change. Yet enrollment numbers tend to go up for the "cut-off". You made a valid point. Which was why don't D2 teams "move-up" to D1 if they feel they're competitive enough? The difference is 1A is the lowest classification and you would have to dedicate 2 years for realignment. Which D2 (with balls) teams would do that? Maybe if they're enrollment numbers are growing but who knows. Point being, the best teams are not playing each other in the state championship yet playoffs in general. When I read there used to be 10 team districts, I loved it. 8-10 teams. If you want to keep D1/D2 create 4 playoff spots. 2 best in d1 and 2 best in D2 go. I would prefer no divisions but it won't happen.

@VI-MAN laugh all you want but Strawn beat Westbrook easily GRs freshman year. Most likely would've met in the state championship too.
Lol in 2018 Mclean beat strawn follet the two d2 finalist and milford in championship all by 30 points or more so they were the out right champs regardless of division and several other teams have done it as well over the years
