The Disciplined Programs

Who has the most disciplined kids you have seen? I know Groom had a pretty well disciplined team this year, and recall I'm stuck in the Panhandle so once your South of about Childress my knowledge is limited. Of course Valley and Follet were too. Valley extremely so, those kids walk a tight rope.

I agree with the Orange Mohawked One. If I had to pick one, I'd have to say Richland Springs.
They have a lot of talent but their discipline is the key to me.

Been tryin to post for 30 min.
I had some beauties too,
but the high winds blew them away.

Now I've forgot what I was gonna say.
der!

Madness........Thank you. That is the highest compliment one can pay a coach and team. Groom has some of the most disciplined kids I've ever coached. I work them hard but the community and our administration also has high expectations. It makes it easy to coach when you know your guys will line up right, read quickly and correctly, and do their job. Follett was very disciplined this year on the field. Silverton had much better discipline this year (new coach has done a great job). It goes without saying that any teams coached by Mitch Lee, Trey Richie, or Joseph O'Malley will be highly disciplined. Just my two cents which in my case is worth about a penny!!! :)

Abbott made the most improvement. In 2011 they argued among themselves. In 2012 they played as a team - and made it to the finals. I'm not sure what Coach Crawford did differently, but it worked.

Schools that come from ranch country, RS, Throck, this thread could open a can of worms
Hmmmmm....You could include Borden County, Marathon, Cherokee, Gordon and Strawn in on that. Those areas are not exactly farm country. However, schools like Garden City, Amherst, Whitharral are mostly farming areas, but it does seem the mostly ranching area schools dominate.

You just cant force discipline on kids, it just seems that the kids from ranching, farming, small isolated towns have more discipline. I agree with OBK there are lots of small town 6 man schools with well disciplined kids, some will have better athletes at times. Give much credit to Moms and Dads and Coaches. Long live our 6 man, i love it......

A farmer or rancher with a serious lack of self-discipline will not last long in that business......

That's a debatable point. I know in the Panhandle, McLean, Happy, Miami, and Hedley are all ranching communities, though Hedley is more farm oriented. None of them have experienced a whole lot of success. However, all of Valley's kids are cowboy progeny, except the few farmers. And Follet is the same way.

discipline and success?

If a team of juvies win state

I kinda look at discipline a little different in this instance. To me discipline is following the coaches philosophy, adhering to game plans, schemes etc. ..................

Actually,
that's what I hoped you meant.
So,
there is a possibility
that a well disciplined team
could have a very tough schedule,
be successfully disciplined,
and not win district.
Bummer for now.
Will pay off in the long run.
