No more traveling man stories???????????c'mon fajita
Little kids usually don't like hearing stories from old men....

Dang good thing I'm not old then.

310 to Garden city, heck of a game, go ahead touchdown scored with 5 seconds left on the clock. One side loses one side wins. Trip to the ranch was 8 miles shorter, but still took almost 5 hours. 2 hour power nap and get ready to make the morning hunt. The wind was blowing 20-30 MPH, enough to convince me the evening hunt would be better, and Lord knows I need my beauty sleep.

Saw 2 bulls, 4 mule deer, and 12 white tail, 0 pigs. Managed to not hit any of them. From the stand I saw a couple of basket 8's, and a monster that refused to come out of the brush this morning. Looked like 10-12" tines on a real symmetrical 10 point. He was staying in heavy brush about 250 yds from my stand, saw him long enough to put the glasses on him and decide that he needed to die. He had other ideas, so next week I'll try again.

On the plus side, no deer to mess with tonight.

If he got old enough to be that big, you'll never see him again. Unless he's chasing a doe during the rut. Odds are, he's too smart to get too wild doing that.

Slightly out of sorts, didn't get to a game this week, But I am listening to the ira/BC game on line.

Wednesday morning drove out to Abilene to pick up my niece(14) for her annual deer hunt. Two and a half hours to the ranch, and we got there at 3 so we have a chance at an evening hunt. My Idea is get her in a stand by 4 and I can catch a nap till dark. Didn't happen.

Got her in the stand as she got situated I dug out a pair of binoculars for her she sees a buck moving to the feeder. The result, at 4:05 I was driving back to the barn to get my knives. She has a nice 8pt on the ground. Field weight 214lbs.

Field dressed, skinned and in the cooler before dark. Of course the next three hunts she saw nothing but bucks(1 buck county), so she didn't get a doe this year.

Friday morning driving her back to meet her mom then back to the ranch so I can do some hunting, it rained, then the wind blew. The only bright spot was I got almost 20MPG on the way home today.
