I suppose one could argue that point, but that's why it's named track and FIELD, not just track. 
Me being a shot and discus thrower, that's really all we had to look forward to!
Except for the track meets that offered a Weightman (fatman) Relay. I specifically remember Water Valley offering this one year. The winner didn't get a medal...they got a bucket of fried chicken!
I have also heard of this relay being run with steel-belted radial tires instead of batons.
I would love to see this race run at more invitational meets, even if it does add an extra 20 minutes or so to the length of the meet.
