I'll start. Gordon is sending all 3 boys relay teams to state with a first place regional showing in the 4x100 and 4x400. And a second place 4x200. Also the boys won the region 3 track meet. Good job Longhorns. Horns up!
 
Extremely proud of this weekend. Glad to see these young folks have a chance to to go to Austin and compete in state track meet. Folks should thank Supe. Cliff Gilmore for his effort to finally get this done. Thank you sir.
 
I think this weekend goes down as a team effort..... to all the past coaches that worked so hard to make this happen...the sixman coaches association and their officers....I thank Charles Breithaupt and his vision (it all started when he split the basketball in class A) and the past spokes person from the sixman coaches association to the UIL, Larry Reid...Larry played a huge role in the track split!!!!! I was so excited to watch the kids faces and parents smiles. You cant beat that...... I remember the first SIXMAN REGIONAL MEET at Waylon...I think 1989 or so....We have come a long way. I think Feb. 1, 2014 when the new alligiment comes out will be the icing on the cake.....Our own conference. I remember when I first started coaching at Goree and we played Munday and got be by about 60 I told George Cotton our principal that this was not right. It just got right........CG
 
Grady is sending all three relays (swept first I all at reg 1 meet) and the long jump champ. I know it doesnt mean much now till they run against all of them in Austin but we do have the fastest 800 and 1600 relay times. Gonna be some great races down there for Div II.
 
Questions

Does this division take a 9th qualifier?

If so, how do they determine it? By the best 3rd place time/distance?

What about field events, do they take a 9th qualifier?

That seems especially difficult in determining pole vault/high jump, where the heights could be the same.
 
Top 2 of course automatically qualify. the Wild Card as they call it is determined by the best 3rd place finish out of all regions combined. If its a jumping or throwing event, ties are broken by the best previous jump or next less number of misses!

in the 100m dash, the 3rd place girl from Roby had a 13.02, the 3rd place girl from D'Hanis had a 13.02, faster than both of the other 2 regions 3rd place girls. Who gets to go? and Why? Coin flip?
