Rocksprings

Just read on Twitter that Carl Padilla is reporting that Rocksprings will be playing six-man in the Fall.

If memory serves, this has been hotly debated within the community.

I watched their meeting about it on Facebook when it happened. I remember thinking then that it really sounded like the school administration wanted to do it and that it was possible that they could lose football all together if they didn't make this move. They were very well prepared, and had a lot of folks there to provide information (including school administrators from other schools that had to make this same decision). I hadn't heard anything about what was decided, but I'm glad to hear they decided to make the move. I hope it was a majority decision from folks within the community. Good for them, and good for the kids!

Wonder if the current staff will stay or if they will look for a head coach with sixman experience.

About time they made the move! I will never understand why schools will stay 11man for so long when their enrollment is so low. Especially when their football program struggles.

I remember seeing a team from Rocksprings, Miles, and Merritt Bland at the state tennis tournament back in 04 and 05, when 1A and now 2A were combined. I wonder what the other schools enrollments are now besides Rocksprings.

Merritt Bland is 237, while Miles is 150 per UIL enrollment numbers.
