Removing a Team

I was at a game last night and watched the coach remove his entire team from the field and refuse to return due to "bad officiating". Is this even legal? Eventually they came back on the field, but we were amazed to see them even try this, muchless think that it was ok.

I'm not sure if it's legal or not, but I've seen times that I wished our coach would have done that very thing lol.

Quick question Badger, did the officiating look that bad to you. Did they seem one-sided in their calls.

I've heard of it happening, and that coach got suspended for a few games by the UIL.

The officials were having a very tough game, but I felt like they were pretty bad for both teams. I'm just not sure how there were no delay of game penalties or any fear of UIL infractions for acting like this.

Unfair Acts
ARTICLE 3. The following are unfair acts:
a. A team refuses to play within two minutes after ordered to do so by the
referee.
b. A team repeatedly commits fouls for which penalties can be enforced
only by halving the distance to its goal line.
c. An obviously unfair act not specifically covered by the rules occurs
during the game (A.R. 4-2-1-II and 9-2-3-I).
PENALTY—The referee may take any action he considers equitable,
which includes directing that the down be repeated,
including assessing a 15-yard penalty, awarding a score, or
suspending or forfeiting the game

So the ref's could have given the team in question a forfeit but apparently chose to try to reconcile with the coach and finish the game?
