Realignment 2014-2016

So, as of right now, we gain two (Medina and White Deer) and lose one. (Star) Are there any other of the "outlaw" schools planning on being in a district this year?

I might add Irving Universal and Lubbock Harmony to the loss side, because of the new charter school rules, but has anyone heard what both those schools plan to do?

I don't think it's right for a school to be able to opt up for football and stay in 1A for everything else. In all other divisions, if you opt up in one sport, you have to compete in that division in all sports and academic events. In my opinion, if your school has the numbers to participate in 11-man ball, then you should be able to compete in all other events. If this was the rule here, we might have more schools decide to compete in 6-man.

You are not alone in your thinking, most feel the same way. But the UIL feels different.

I don't see how they have kept the doors open as long as they have. When you drop below 90 ADA 2 out of 3 years, your funding from the state is cut by about half.

UIL released a list of schools by classification and what level of football they will play; opt-ups are also noted.

Here's the link: http://www.uiltexas.org/files/alignment ... g-Info.pdf

I've downloaded it to Excel and will post a list of six-man UIL schools later, but here's the numbers:

-- 1312 UIL high schools
-- 1A (in football, now all six-man is 1A) 140 schools for six-man football
-- Another 19 schools play 11-man football (2A) and will play 1A in all other sports
-- 51 schools are 1A but do not play football (commie pinko schools)
-- A total of 106 of the 1312 UIL high schools do not play football (although Fort Hancock is listed as a no football school, since they do not play district six-man and I think we can give Fort Worth Women's Academy a pass from the commie pinko list).

Realigments come out Monday morning, I believe. Fox Sports SW will be live at 9 am with the full show. My guess is that six-man districts will be announced around 9:45 ... let's just say near the end of the show.

Marathon was in our district back in '78-'79 and it was a loooong drive going down there. I doubt that any Grape Creek kids would want to make the trip.

I remember reading about that district back then. I bet the Marathon guys would have preferred to stay in the one team district they had in the 2 years before then.
