Playoffs

Lipan is a non-football school. They are still playing basketball in their 60's era gym. They passed a 1 million dollar+ bond to build a new gym about the year 2000. They kept twicking the plans as they built the gym till they ran out of bond money. They went back to the voters for an additional 2 or 3 hundred thousand dollar bond to finish the project. The second bond was rejected. And there in Lipan it sits, an abandaned building without glass and a wooden floor, on a lot completly grown up in weeds.

Can't read the complete article, but here is a blurb with a picture, from Oct. 20, 2012.

After 12 frustrating years, Lipan gym about finished.
HERE AT LAST!: The new Lipan High School Gymnasium will be celebrated Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. with a grand opening/open house. The 1,000-seat facility was started in 1999, but construction was halted when funding ran out. It was started again and finished after a $2.5 million bond package was approved by voters in October 2011. The first game in the new gym will feature the Lipan Lady Indians against Mineral Wells on Nov. 6. The gym is believed to be one of the nicest facilities of its kind between Fort Worth and Abilene.

Did they finish the building they started? Did they back up and start fresh? Two point five million seems like lot just to finsh the gym.
Sounds like they finished the building they started.

"Completion of Lipan ISD's Gym approved by voters May 14th.
The $2,500,000 bond will finally complete the gym begun 10 years ago. It's completion offers many possibilites to the community of Lipan. Also agriculture instruction facilities will be expanded with the bond proceeds.

Congratulations to the Strawn Girls and Coach Crabb on a great season. With only one senior (who was not a starter) they should be pretty good again next year. In the same district with Lipan, Lingleville and Huckabay it's always tough though.

In the boys bracket, it looks like a Crowell and WV rematch in the regional semi-final. If last year was any indicator it should be a great game. Can we find it streamed online anywhere?

WV - 66
Crowell - 53
I thought it would be closer but I wasn't there to see it so I can't say what happened.

It should have been a 3 point game either way. First half was amazing!! Three starters for Crowell got blood on their uniforms and had to sit until jerseys were washed of the blood before they could return. That time cost us 7 points.

Second half got UGLY!! Fans were escorted off the Campus, portion of the crowd was asked to move and the pep/cheerleaders were moved behind their team.

The actions of those escorted out was TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR!! Those two adults should be ashamed of themselves!! The resent comment Nugent made about the POTUS seems to be more fitting for those two.

What should have been a classic ballgame (much like the matchup this season in football) turned into a train wreck. Guess there is always next year.

Ugh.....................................
