Non-UIL players who can start on a UIL Team?

Any of the top 8 players from stephenville faith would start on any sixman team in the state.

Oh Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz here we go again .... observations from the unknowing .... how many times have we been down this road ?????

Yea, and I freely admit I have never seen Stephenville Faith play or ever heard of them for that matter.

I'm just saying if one of any of the top 8 moved to a 6 man school they would start on one side of the ball. Your right about not knowing, if you would like you can send me a pm and I can get you some game film

Thanks for your kind offer but don't need to see any game film - have seen enough film, tape, digital recordings and actual games from the past 40 years to have a pretty good handle on this. I have seen several of the top 20 teams (from the overall rankings list) play this year. I would venture to say going 5 - 8 players deep into any of their rosters would not yield starters on good number of those top 20 teams. Seeing that SF would be at the least a 30 point underdog to any of the top 16 teams leaves a lot of wiggle room to doubt the validity of the 8 kids could start assumption.

That is just a fact of life on 6 man rosters. Reality checks are a common thing on the 6 man site.

#10 Colton Richter (Bastrop Tribe) is a really good athlete and could easily start at most UIL schools. Also, #63 Reid Stanley from Tomball Christian could be an easy starter at most schools.

There are no doubt many kids from the Private School arena that could start for UIL teams. I have seen a few this year myself. I just have to really back up from the statement or assumption of 8 kids from a team are in that position.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but there is no team in the state of Texas, in 6-man football, that could send me their number 8 guy and him start on my team; much less a top ten team. I run 8 deep on offense and 7 deep on defense. Maybe their top two or three could battle for a spot, but no way the 8th best guy on a team goes into most schools and starts immediately. Just my opinion, but there are too many different offenses out there to assume these players would even fit into a system, much less start.

WAIT!!! I take that back. If the #8 guy is a kicker, then I stand corrected.

Glad to see the importance of the kicking game mentioned. I could never understand why so few teams fail to develop kickers. Yes, they CAN be developed and do win games......... Excuse me the pain meds just kicked in.......got a little carried away there..........................

I have seen Stephenville Faith playand Cherry 5 is probably exaggerating. I only see five of their players definitely starting for any team in the state. The next three would be iffy if we're talking about a top UIL contender. I would say that at least three of their starters could walk over to Stephenville High and start for their varsity right now.

We've lost two games this year when we didn't make an extra point and scored more touchdowns than our opponents. Tough when your kicker gets injured.

This talking about kickers reminds me of an exchange on this site (paraphrased) went something like this. Father took his son to six-man football game, team lines up to punt, boy looks up at pa and says, "Dad their punting, what a bunch of sissies".

two players on the SA Winston team who could compete for a UIL spot are 13 Saion Peterson and 33 Drew Grey - both hard nosed mentally strong with physical talents 13 would be offense and defense 33 defense

I like the way you worded this. "Could compete for a spot" instead of "could start for" makes claim more difficult to dispute.

Let's see - your talking about the #3 ranked UIL 3A football team in the state of TEXAS that has been one of the top 4A programs. I find it hard to imagine 3 athletes from a private school who is ranked something like 32nd in the state overall in six man having that kind of talent.

I would think the Yellowjackets must be vastly over achieving with the talent they have if these kids could just step in.

I understand that SF is a private school powerhouse, but assuming that they could walk over an play for a REAL powerhouse like the S'ville jackets is nuts. For the most part, IF they could, they WOULD.

Very well put ….

Cherry5 - You need for your own education to go an watch several UIL playoff games starting at the Regional preferably the Quarter Final level. This weeds out all of the 2nd and 3rd place teams out of districts. Most all are eliminated by by these rounds.

After seeing 8-10 of these games you should have a much better grasp of the talent levels of the top 10-15 teams in the state.

You will have a much better understanding stepping outside your "narrow and sheltered" six man perspective. By that I mean check below. This is the "powerhouse" strength of schedule SF has faced this year. Please notice the opponents state ranking and records.

Opponent ____________ Ranking __ Record
Willow Park Trinity ……….…. 174 ... 1-6
Gordon ………………….....…. 28 …. 4-3
Watauga Harvest ………...….. 65 …. 2-4
Brownwood Victory Life ….... 144 …. 1-5
Weatherford Home School ..... 180 ... 2-5
Balch Springs Christian …..… 253 … 0-6

One team with a record above .500 and one team ranked above 65. SF opponents have a 10 wins and 29 losses record - a .340 winning percentage. 4 of the wins by one team. Remove them and the number drops to .230 for a record percentage.

Save your pennies for gas money and tickets and give yourself a treat and do some post season traveling.

There are more important considerations than athletic participation in families deciding to home school their children. Stephenville High is very good, and so is Stephenville Faith. I can see how someone who has never seen them play might be incredulous as to just how good they are. The three specific players I'm talking about are Daniel Winkler, who is a "water boy" kind of hitter, Jared Veldhuizen, who is scary fast, and Jacob Thompson, who is like a combination of the other two. Their coach, Cody Martin, played for Art Briles and he is a strong believer in the weight room and conditioning. The blessing of natural athletic ability along with hard work has made Faith what they are, defending TCAL 2 champs on a 13-game win streak which includes wins over some really good UIL and TAPPS teams. I'll predict that they not only finish undefeated, but that they will 45 every opponent, including the playoffs. Granted, their TCAL schedule doesn't present them much of a challenge. As a final thought, it doesn't make anyone sound particularly learned about the game when they express opinions without having seen a team play, refusing offers to look at game film, or considering the opinions of those who actually have seen the team play; rather than relying on "fantasy football" computer rankings to evaluate players and teams.

Mr. Coyote sir. Been at this a long time. Seen a lot of games. Seen a lot of kids - from the sideline, press box, stands, film room and scouting. I am particularly learned and comment from a unbiased perspective. You talk fantasy football. Sorry sir but stats don't lie, not the whole story but they are fact.

The Private school debate and comparisons have been done to death on the boards with always the same outcome. I am not denigrating or slighting the SF players - but some of the statements thrown around here are just bunk.
