Hey Mom!
Hope your holydays were
most excellent and your boys are well too!!!!
What is BMT in Lackland?
We have been assessing
some past athletic accomplishments
of 6man babes.
Perhaps you could regail us
with just one of your many
sporting anecdotes?

As always Smokey, you are correct. It means Basic Military Training and Lackland is the Air Force base in San Antonio.

Got my oldest son off to BMT in Lackland

My marine sons would call him a civilian in a blue suit........

That's not nice,
I think anyone that is serving our Country should get respect,
no matter what branch of service they choose.

I was not being snarky, just letting you know what the jarheads call them. The Navy boys are squids and what they call the Army is not suitable for a family forum....

I call them all "HEROES".

Well said. Anyone going into harms way for our freedom is a hero. It is fun to watch the interservice rivalries though. What does our Marine, Pete, have to say about the Air Force?

Pete went hunting. I'll tell him it's time to catch up & throw his 2 cents in.

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack, only one of the kids got a deer, this year we took 7 deer of the place, last year 27, and I will tell you, for the most part we worked hard for the deer we killed.

OK about the interservice things,

From a Marines point of view, we like the Navy, we are keeping them around while we perfect the walking on water thing. Plus the got corpsmen and seabees.
Army, since oldest warrior child is still serving, they get a pass(he went in the Army cause that's what you do if you go to West Point)
The Navy gets a pass because bro-n-law was in the Navy AND he was a corpsman.
The Air Force gets a pass because youngest warrior child was in the AF and doc's kid is in the Air Force.

That leaves the Coasties, I respect them cause they got to go out but they don't have to return, Takes a pretty large to equipment package to go out in weather that has already got some one in trouble just to lend a hand.

You wear the uniform of any of our armed forces, I got your back brother . . .

What doc you talking about Pete? I don't have a kid serving.
I did have a friend that served 3 years in the marines. They wouldn't let him re-up because of knee problems, but he joined the army after 9-11. He was 4th ID. He took a direct hit from an RPG in Iraq. He never got to see his son.
God bless anyone willing to give their life to defend our freedom.

One of my oldest's boot camp buddies just switched over to the Army from the Marines. He wanted to go career, but his knees were damaged in Afghanistan and the physical demands of Marine trainingwould have taken him out early.

My youngest is an officer cadet in Army ROTC.

On a real downer, one of our Eagle Scouts who did a hitch in the Navy as a reactor operator on the Nimitz was just buried today. He was 27 and had been out for 2 years. He had been diagnosed as bipolar and the docs seem to think he od on his medications. No indications of suicide. We kid Cowboy and others as being off their meds here, but those are very powerful drugs and can kill if improperly used.

Our Scout troop has members, mostly Eagles, in all branches, including one who is currently on Seal Team 1, his brother is an engineering officer on a LA class attack sub, my two in the Marines, one is a coastie on a cutter in Massachussetts (was in Alaska), two in the Army, and one who just got out of the Air Force last month.

My brother-n-law was in the Navy, served with the Marines as a corpsman, it's his kid that is in the Air Force - doing the EOD thing.
